Glengoyne Distillery, the sustainable Highland whisky maker which was the first to create its own dedicated water treatment wetlands, has further strengthened its partnership with the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) by announcing the release of a new charity whisky expression. Glengoyne is releasing The Glengoyne Wetlands Single Cask Release with proceeds from sales being donated to further help WWT’s conservation work.

A collector’s item, this is a limited release of just 500 bottles priced at £190 each. Bottled at 61.1% ABV, it packs a punch, whilst delivering elegance. This exceptional whisky expression has been crafted from a select refill Sherry Butt No. 190257, which was filled on 8 June 2009. The Master Distiller selected this as the refill aspect echoes Glengoyne’s environmental credentials.

The Glengoyne Wetlands Single Cask Release will be available at the Glengoyne Distillery store, through www.Glengoyne.com, at selected WWT sites, and via https://shop.wwt.org.uk/ from 28 October 2025 at 9am GMT.

The label features an illustration by the artist Elin Manon whose work is inspired by the natural world. The illustration features the distinctive traditional distillery, the surrounding wetlands and the iconic Glengoyne geese after which the brand is named. For every one of the 500 bottles sold, a donation will be made to the charity to help it continue its important conservation work.

This release follows the launch in 2021 of the first Wetlands Single Cask Whisky which marked 10 years since the creation of the distillery’s wetlands. It was one of the first casks to be filled after the company decided to place a strong environment sustainability programme at the heart of its operations. As a result, Glengoyne has been able to support a range of programmes as part of its exclusive WWT whisky partnership including the Blue Recovery Fund, the Wetlands Can! Campaign and sponsorship of the WWT Caerlaverock Reserve, as well as funding the restoration of an important bird hide, now named The Glengoyne Hide.

Katie Burns from Glengoyne said: “Our exclusive whisky partnership with the WWT has a natural synergy with Glengoyne, derived from Glen Guin, or ‘valley of the geese’ as the charity’s work supports the environment in which these geese, and other wildfowl, thrive. After a dozen years of successfully partnering with the charity, we are delighted to continue to support the WWT’s invaluable work. The Wetlands Can! Campaign calls for the creation of 100,000 hectares of wetlands across the UK and we’re delighted to have dipped a toe in the water – pun intended – and helped towards achieving this admirable goal.”

Glengoyne Whisky supported The Wild Goose Festival 2025, a recent week-long celebration. Two Glengoyne Distillery ambassadors attended the Festival at Caerlaverock on Saturday 25th October where guests sampled the Wetlands Single Cask which was available to purchase before general sale.

Tasting notes for Glengoyne Wetlands Single Cask Release

Nose: enticing sweet and fruity with notes of citrus, kiwi, ripe fig, milk chocolate, whipped vanilla cream, garden mint, oat biscuits, and candied walnut.

Palate: nicely aged feel and typically Glengoyne in character with tangerine, peach, toffee, cola, almond thins, subtle spices, malt and sweet oak.

Finish: freshly balanced and appetising, with soft citrus, dried fruits, gently drying oak and cream sherry.
