NOVUM Hospitality and IHG Hotels & Resorts announce the opening in 2028 of a dual-branded hotel complex in Leipzig, located at 44-52 Berliner Straße. The site will house a Holiday Inn – the niu Fair and a Candlewood Suites, offering 200 rooms for short stays and 80 apartments for long stays.
A strategic expansion in Leipzig
This project is part of the development strategy of NOVUM Hospitality and IHG, continuing their partnership initiated in April 2024. It marks the seventh and eighth joint projects developed by the two groups.
Holiday Inn – the niu Fair will feature 200 city-inspired rooms, as well as social spaces and modern amenities. The name “Fair” refers to Leipzig’s central role as a hub for trade fairs and exhibitions.
On the other hand, Candlewood Suites Leipzig will cater to extended stays, offering fully equipped kitchenettes, laundry service, a fitness center, and a convenience shop.
A project supported by a strong partnership
To bring this initiative to life, NOVUM Hospitality has partnered with Peters Development GmbH, a Hamburg-based real estate developer specializing in project development and investment management.
With this new addition, Leipzig affirms its growing appeal on the European hotel scene, enhancing its accommodation offering to cater to all types of clientele.
“Leipzig is a key destination for trade fairs and conferences. This expansion perfectly aligns with our growth strategy with IHG Hotels & Resorts. We are excited to secure these two ideally located and complementary hotels in terms of offerings and services. This project will bring our portfolio to four properties in the city.” – David Etmenan, CEO and owner of NOVUM Hospitality.
“Our collaboration with NOVUM Hospitality and IHG highlights our commitment to innovative hotel projects. By combining their brand strength and our real estate expertise, we are developing a project that will sustainably enrich Leipzig’s hotel market. This strategic location, combined with a well-thought-out concept, will attract both travelers and local residents.” – Jakob Peters, CEO of Peters Development GmbH.
The partnership between IHG Hotels & Resorts and NOVUM Hospitality aims to double IHG’s presence in Germany, reaching over 200 hotels in nearly 100 cities. Between 2024 and 2028, up to 108 NOVUM hotels are expected to open, adding approximately 15,334 rooms to the IHG network.
