IHG Hotels & Resorts has reopened Kimpton Los Monteros Marbella following a major renovation that blends its historic legacy with a laid-back, modern design. Originally opened in 1962 as Hotel Los Monteros – Spa & Golf Resort Marbella, this was reportedly the first hotel in Spain to receive a Michelin Star.
Located near the Mediterranean, the resort features 195 rooms, including 60 suites, many with private terraces and sea views. The hotel’s redesign was led by Barcelona-based firm El Equipo Creativo, incorporating geometric patterns, terracotta tiles and natural textures inspired by Marbella’s cultural heritage. Guestrooms, designed by Cristina Carulla Studio, emphasize Mediterranean colors and materials.

Kimpton Los Monteros offers multiple dining venues and culinary experiences led by Michelin-starred executive chef José Carlos García. Guests can savor Mediterranean flavors crafted from locally sourced ingredients at Jara restaurant or enjoy Mexican-inspired cuisine alongside an infinity pool and summer events at Escondido rooftop. The Azul lounge bar transitions from serving specialty coffee in the morning to handcrafted cocktails and live music in the evening, while the Costa Club pool bar offers light Mediterranean bites and drinks in a relaxed, poolside setting.
The resort also features a spa with a hydrotherapy circuit, yoga and fitness sessions and access to Marbella’s top golf courses, which was created in collaboration with French cosmetology company CODAGE. The Racket Club includes tennis and paddle courts. Nearby, La Cabane Dolce & Gabbana Beach Club offers beachfront relaxation.
For events, Kimpton Los Monteros offers a grand ballroom for up to 250 guests, a rooftop venue and a beach club suitable for weddings and private gatherings.
