Today, art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio opens its doors, marking the art’otel brand’s highly anticipated debut in Italy. Situated in the heart of Rome, this five-star boutique lifestyle hotel combines contemporary art, bold design, exciting gastronomy, and innovative hospitality to deliver a fresh and immersive experience for modern travelers.

The property, located in Piazza Sallustio steps from La Dolce Vita’s Via Veneto, Spanish Steps and Villa Borghese, features 99 art-filled guestrooms and suites, with all suites boasting private terraces overlooking the historic Horti Sallustiani gardens. Designed in collaboration with acclaimed Roman contemporary artist Pietro Ruffo and lead interior designer Eyal Shoan of Digital Space, art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio offers a unique fusion of art, culture, and lifestyle, setting a new benchmark for hospitality in the Eternal City.

The opening of art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio marks a significant milestone for art’otel, the contemporary lifestyle hotel brand owned by PPHE Hotel Group, more widely known for its Park Plaza properties. Renowned for successful openings in cities like London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Zagreb, and Cologne, art’otel continues to expand its European portfolio with a focus on immersive, art-led hospitality.

Greg Hegarty, Co-Chief Executive Officer at PPHE Hotel Group, shares his excitement about this groundbreaking addition to the art’otel portfolio:

“art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio is a milestone moment for our brand. Not only does this project bring the art’otel brand to Italy for the first time, but it cements the unmissable collaboration between the hotel interior design created by Eyal Shoan (Digital Space), and the art of our Signature Artists that the brand stands for. With our Signature Artist Pietro Ruffo’s remarkable vision and our commitment to creating immersive lifestyle destinations, this property offers an entirely new way to experience Rome – as a vibrant, living canvas of art, food and culture.”

As with every art’otel, a Signature Artist has been integral to the hotel’s creative identity. Roman-born Pietro Ruffo, who was recently named Italy’s Artist of the Year by Inside Art magazine and is renowned for his ongoing collaborations with Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior and The Vatican Apostolic Library, has curated an exclusive collection of works that will permeate every corner of the property. Ruffo’s pieces explore Rome’s layered history, from celestial constellations to the city’s evolving cultural and natural landscapes. Celestial maps and zodiac signs embellish the terraces of the 11 luxurious suites, whilst his Festina Lente and Gente di Roma artworks dress the guestrooms and constellations adorn the lobby’s stone walls and are woven into the carpeted corridors that take guests throughout the boutique wonderland.

A showcase like no other of Ruffo’s signature works, including originals, make the hotel the largest permanent collection of his work to date.

Pietro Ruffo explains: “The collection of art’otel tells the story of Rome’s history through nature, people, and the stars above us. It’s an opportunity to reimagine the Eternal City in a contemporary light and give travelers the tools to see and feel Rome with a different perspective.”

art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio also introduces YEZI, a Pan-Asian restaurant and bar featuring a sun-drenched terrace designed by Pietro Ruffo.

Following its success in Zagreb, Executive Chef Werner Seebach and Head Chef Giordano Gianforchetti now bring this dynamic, modern, and unexpected cuisine to Piazza Sallustio as they celebrate the harmony of Asian flavours in an unparalleled design space. Ruffo’s work enriches the experience, providing a feast for every sense.

Menu items and cocktails alike will be inspired by the ancient trade routes leading to Rome as cultures merge, blend and transform into something special. YEZI caters to locals and travelers alike with innovative cuisine, elevated cocktails, and vibrant aperitivo sessions complemented by live DJ sets as the weekend draws near.

The hotel features an on-site art gallery, hosting rotating exhibitions with the inaugural by Pietro Ruffo himself and providing a unique setting for events and private hire. Guests and locals will also benefit from the hotel’s signature art’beat events programme, which brings regularly changing cultural activations in art, music, fashion, wellness, and gastronomy.

Additional facilities with this five-star escape include a state-of-the-art fitness centre with advanced TechnoGym equipment, sauna, creative meeting space, and bespoke services that cater to both business and leisure travelers.

As Rome enters its Jubilee year, the city begins to come together in a celebration that only happens a handful of times during a lifetime. With TimeOut naming the Rome Jubilee as the best thing to do in the world next year, art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio opens at an ample time to enjoy the eternal city in all its glory.

Overseeing the opening is General Manager Diego Di Gaetano, a hospitality leader with over 20 years of experience in luxury and lifestyle hotels. Di Gaetano comments: “art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio redefines the hotel experience in Rome, bringing a depth and story behind interior design that no other hotel has in the city. By blending contemporary art with cutting-edge design and hospitality, we’ve created a property that delivers something truly innovative for both our guests and the local community.”

art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio is celebrating its grand opening with a special offer that includes a complimentary room upgrade, early check in (12PM), late check out (2PM), complimentary Aperitivo for two at YEZI Bar and breakfast for two.
