Crystal Creek Capital has acquired Planters Inn, a 64-room boutique hotel in Charleston’s historic district. The private equity real estate firm, based in Jackson Hole, Wyo., will also assume management of the property.

The only Relais & Châteaux property in the city, it was initially built in 1844 as a luxury goods emporium. Crystal Creek Capital plans an extensive renovation while preserving the property’s historical elements.

“We are proud to become part of the Charleston community and honored to steward this historic hotel,” said Jamie Yarrow, president of Crystal Creek Hospitality. “Charleston has a rich architectural and cultural heritage, and our goal is to reflect that in Planters Inn’s future.”

The hotel features Southern design elements such as high ceilings, hickory furnishings, four-poster beds and Audubon prints. The lobby, parlor, and guest rooms maintain their historical character while offering modern amenities. The property also includes 5,500 square feet of meeting and event space, while its courtyard, designed by landscape architect Sheila Wertimer, serves as a focal point.

Peninsula Grill, its on-site restaurant known for its Southern cuisine, features velvet oyster-toned walls, woven seagrass floors and custom chandeliers. The menu highlights Lowcountry flavors, with dishes incorporating fresh seafood, prime steaks and local ingredients.
