The Loren Group has acquired Bermuda’s Elbow Beach Hotel and Fritholme Garden Residences. The properties, located along the island’s south shore, will undergo redevelopment and become part of the Loren portfolio, which includes The Loren at Pink Beach in Bermuda and The Loren at Lady Bird Lake in Austin. Elbow Beach has been closed since 2020.

The Loren Group plans a full renovation of the site, with updates to the hotel, private residences, restaurants and wellness facilities. The company confirmed that redevelopment will also include member amenities and expanded hotel accommodations.

“We are honored to take ownership of the historic Elbow Beach Resort, a property that holds a special place in Bermuda’s rich cultural and hospitality heritage. Our vision is to rejuvenate this esteemed property, blending its storied past with The Loren’s signature style to create an unparalleled destination for both locals and visitors,” said Stephen King, CEO & founder of The Loren Group. “This deal is a testament to our dedication to Bermuda and the opportunity we see for continued growth as a luxury hospitality brand,” King said, going on to thank those involved Butterfield Bank, EY, Rego Sotheby’s International Realty and the Government of Bermuda.

The Fritholme Garden Residences will also be redeveloped.

Both properties are expected to create employment opportunities during construction and after completion. The new development will also offer real estate opportunities and be integrated into the company’s Roots Initiative, a reforestation program focused on biodiversity and carbon capture. The Loren at Elbow Beach will join a growing collection of properties.

The Loren at Pink Beach opened in 2017 on the island’s east end. The Loren at Lady Bird Lake opened in Texas, and The Loren at Turtle Cove in Turks & Caicos is under development with an expected opening in 2026. The Loren Group has stated that more details on the Elbow Beach redevelopment will be shared in the coming months.

Plans are underway to design a mixed-use environment that reflects the company’s existing approach to real estate, hotel accommodations and local integration. The company emphasized that the project is intended to support Bermuda’s long-term tourism and residential goals.

The redevelopment adds to a wave of investment in the island’s hotel sector. Multiple properties have recently undergone upgrades or reopened after extended closures. Elbow Beach, with its location and beachfront access, is expected to be a significant component in future tourism growth.
