Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced a significant leadership transition within its executive team. Kristin Oliver will succeed Malaika Myers as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective May 12, 2025. This change comes as Myers prepares for retirement after a distinguished seven-year tenure.

A new era for Hyatt’s human resources strategy

Kristin Oliver brings 15 years of experience in human resources leadership, having held various C-suite roles at companies such as HanesBrands, Walgreens, Chico’s, and Walmart. Her expertise lies in building high-performing, cohesive teams, and she will now oversee the global HR strategy for Hyatt as it looks to drive future growth.

“We are delighted to welcome Kristin to the Hyatt family. As Hyatt evolves into a more brand-focused, agile enterprise, Kristin’s extensive experience and purpose-driven approach will guide our focus on the capabilities and talent needed to move our strategy forward.” –  Mark Hoplamazian, Hyatt’s President and CEO

Oliver’s leadership is expected to play a key role in shaping Hyatt’s human resources strategy during a time of transformation for the company.

Malaika Myers: a legacy of strong leadership

Malaika Myers, who has served as CHRO for the past seven years, will retire at the end of May 2025. Hoplamazian praised Myers for her transformative leadership and her significant contributions to Hyatt’s culture, particularly her commitment to colleague wellbeing and the advancement of the RiseHY program.

“Malaika’s leadership has been transformative for our organization. Her unwavering commitment to our values, colleague wellbeing, and fostering open dialogue around mental health has left an indelible mark on Hyatt’s culture. Our global Opportunity Youth program RiseHY, which Malaika championed, is nearing its ambitious goal of 10,000 hires. We are deeply grateful for her contributions and wish her the very best.”  – Mark Hoplamazian, Hyatt’s President and CEO

Looking ahead: a strong leadership team

As Hyatt continues to evolve, the appointment of Kristin Oliver as CHRO marks a new phase in the company’s HR strategy, aimed at supporting its growth and fostering a culture of inclusivity and innovation. This nomination follows the recent reorganisation of Hyatt’s management team with several key appointments.
