Kanpai Classic introduces a bold new Japanese steakhouse concept in Soho, blending the elegance of traditional Yakiniku with the premium dining standards of new-style steakhouses.
The new menu has officially launched today (April 28th), featuring a refreshed selection of dishes that reflect the essence of Kanpai Classic’s unique approach to Wagyu cuisine.
Founded in Taiwan in 1999, Kanpai Group now have several acclaimed restaurants across Taiwan and China. In 2017 and 2018, Kanpai Classic made history as the world’s first Michelin-starred Yakiniku restaurant in Shanghai, China. Today, it continues to honour that pioneering legacy—bringing precision, innovation, and world-class Japanese Yakiniku to a global audience.
A Legacy of Culinary Craft
With over two decades of experience working with Wagyu, Kanpai Classic is more than a restaurant—it is a new style of Japanese steakhouse philosophy brought to life. Rooted in a deep respect for craftsmanship, ingredient integrity, and sensory storytelling, the brand draws inspiration from the rich traditions of Japanese Yakiniku while elevating them through years of refinement.
The Soho outpost represents the maturity of the Kanpai vision—where authentic Eastern grilling techniques meet Western sophistication, and every detail, from grill to glass, is thoughtfully considered to deliver a seamless and elevated dining experience.
A New Japanese Steakhouse Menu Experience
Kanpai Classic’s new menu celebrates Japanese A5 Grade Wagyu in all its forms, grilled to perfection individually at each table. Each dish incorporates European ideas and techniques to create a bold, new, artful approach to Japanese BBQ “Yakiniku” cuisine. Expect a fresh menu with sharing appetisers, feasting menus, rice selections, elegant lunch offerings, and à la carte dishes.
Kanpai Classic brings the tradition of Japanese Yakiniku to life for the first time in London. As a new-style Japanese steakhouse, it introduces the philosophy of grilling the whole cow, featuring Miyazaki’s “Himawari” Wagyu. Unlike the typical Japanese A5 Grade Wagyu, Himawari is carefully selected through a two-step process, ensuring all cuts are marbled to perfection. Diners can immerse themselves and savour the finest Wagyu experience whilst enjoying seamlessly paired drinks in a relaxed setting.
