UK: Global travel technology company OYO is expanding its Sunday brand, signing leases to operate six former Mercure hotels across England and Wales.

The hotels – located in Cardiff, Warwick, Dorking, Staines, Exeter and Winchester – will undergo a refurbishment and rebranding under Sunday.

OYO said it aims to strengthen its offering in the UK, where it already operates the Sunday Lansbury Heritage hotel in Canary Wharf, London.

OYO expects the six hotels to welcome around 65,000 international guests annually, with overseas visitors projected to make up more than 30 per cent of total guests.

Puneet Yadav, head of Oravel’s UK business, parent company of OYO, said: “We have focused on diversifying our premium offerings in the UK market. These hotels, each with their own unique character and strong market presence, will allow us to serve both business and leisure travellers, corporate groups, weddings and conferences.”

Beyond the UK, OYO operates Sunday hotels across Asia and the Middle East, including in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the UAE, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
