The Eden Project Collection of mattresses by Hypnos Beds has been celebrated for its sustainability efforts at the Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards 2025.

The collection won the Sustainability Brand Licensed Product or Range Award at a ceremony held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.

The award recognises and rewards a brand licensed product or range’s credentials on the sustainability front. Products of Change, a global hub for sustainable consumer products, sponsored the award and contributed to the judging.

The Eden Project worked in close collaboration with Hypnos Beds to create the collection, which features three beautifully handcrafted mattresses that each harness the natural benefits of fibres made from plants and are inspired by the Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes, and Eden’s vast Outdoor Gardens.

Many of the plants used in the collection are on display at the Eden Project, including bamboo, sugar cane, rubber trees, banana, pineapple, oranges and kapok trees.

The Eden Project Collection is available to consumers through Hypnos’ network of quality retail partners and helps to share both the principles and ethos of the Eden Project and the quality and integrity of the Hypnos brand.

The collection stands out by integrating responsibly sourced materials, with confidence in their provenance, traceability and certifications, and showing that with creative innovation, plants can offer a sustainable way of life for local populations and help them protect their habitats.

Designed with the environment at the forefront, the mattresses are made with 100% natural and sustainable fibres, meaning they are fully recyclable and do not need to end up at landfill sites at the end of their lifetime. In addition, all mattresses are free of harmful and allergy-related chemicals, with no use of any synthetic, chemical-based foams or memory foams.

Tracey Smith, the Eden Project’s Commercial Partnership and Licensing Manager, said: “We’re thrilled that our Eden Project Collection mattresses by Hypnos have won this award which shines a bright spotlight on the importance of sustainability. This unique collection of plant-based mattresses, themed on the Eden Project’s Rainforest, Mediterranean and Wild Cornwall gardens, are created using responsibly sourced plant fibres and are a shining example that quality, sustainability and innovation can and should go hand-in-hand.

“We were also delighted to be recognised with nominations for the Inspired Innovation Brand Licensed Product or Range Award and the Best Licensed Heritage and Institution Brand Award. As an educational charity with a mission to demonstrate positive innovation and action for the planet, our licensing programme is highly selective, working only with purposeful organisations, products and solutions that limit, or improve, their impact on the world. We are incredibly proud of our long-term partnership with Hypnos Beds which has been growing since 2019 and we are excited to see what comes next.”

Hypnos’ Group MD David Baldry said: “As a 120-year-old British bedmaker and Royal Warrant holder for over 96 years, it is important that we offer sleep solutions through our retailers across the UK that demonstrably support the wellbeing of people and the planet.”

“I am incredibly proud of our growing partnership with the Eden Project since 2019, and their knowledge and support have been invaluable in developing new initiatives and products that highlight the benefits of finding more ethical solutions.”

Launched in 2016, The B&LLAs gives the brand and lifestyle licensing and retail sector an opportunity to be recognised and rewarded for excellence in product innovation, brand licensing management as well as retail execution within the ever-evolving brand and lifestyle licensing arena.

This is the second time the Eden Project has won the Sustainability Brand Licensed Product or Range Award, having previously received it for its Compostable Coffee Capsules from Fresh Coffee Shop in 2022.
