The design of The Siam is deeply rooted in Thai history and culture while exuding a sense of sophisticated tranquility that distinguishes it from other luxury hotels in the city.

The Siam Bangkok is a masterful blend of luxury, heritage, and contemporary design.  Situated along the Chao Phraya River, this boutique hotel combines elements of traditional Thai aesthetics with a modern, minimalist approach, offering guests a unique and immersive experience.

The Hotel’s overall design draws inspiration from the grandeur of the Thai royal palaces and the Art Deco movement of the early 20th century. Bensley’s signature style is evident in the careful curation of architectural elements, blending classical Thai motifs with geometric Art Deco details. The hotel’s layout consists of 38 suites and pool villas, each designed with a sense of space and exclusivity.

With local culture and history steeped into the Thai teak wood houses that make up the restaurant, dining at Chon is always an unforgettable experience.

The property is arranged in a way that maximizes privacy while maintaining a strong connection to its riverside location. The symmetrical layout of courtyards, colonnades, and open spaces creates a harmonious balance between structure and nature. The hotel’s black-and-white colour palette enhances its sophisticated appeal, providing a striking contrast against the lush greenery that envelops the property.

The interiors are an elegant juxtaposition of old-world charm and contemporary refinement. The use of teakwood, marble, and polished concrete creates a tactile experience that evokes both warmth and modernity. Accommodations are furnished with carefully selected antiques, artwork, and vintage collectibles that reflect Thailand’s rich cultural heritage.

One of the most distinctive elements of the hotel’s design is the incorporation of historical artifacts and memorabilia, many of which were sourced by the hotel’s owners, the Sukosol family. These include old photographs, classic travel trunks, and unique pieces of Thai craftsmanship, depicting Bangkok’s past.

The heart The Siam is its central atrium, an airy and light-filled space that serves as a gathering point for guests. The atrium is framed by black-and-white columns and lush tropical greenery, creating an atmosphere that feels both grand and intimate.

Throughout the common areas, Bensley’s meticulous attention to detail is evident in the handcrafted screens, intricate tilework, and dramatic staircases. The use of water features, such as koi ponds and reflecting pools, further enhances the sense of serenity and escape from the bustling city beyond the hotel’s walls.

The design philosophy of The Siam extends seamlessly into its wellness facilities, particularly the Opium Spa. The spa’s interiors embrace a monochromatic colour scheme, accented with dark wood and ambient lighting to create a deeply relaxing environment. Inspired by traditional Thai healing practices, the design incorporates elements such as hand-carved wooden panels, silk draperies, and serene garden views.

The wellness areas also include a yoga terrace, a riverside infinity pool, and a state-of-the-art gym housed within a striking glass-walled pavilion. The combination of natural elements and refined design creates an oasis where guests can rejuvenate in style.

Natural light filters through lush ferns into the elegant Welcome Courtyard, creating a sense of calm and serenity.

These spaces reflect the hotel’s dedication to creating a cultural and intellectual experience beyond conventional hospitality offerings. Bensley’s design ensures that every corner of The Siam tells a story, making each stay a journey through time and artistry.

The Chon Thai Restaurant is set in a cluster of century-old Thai teak houses. These houses were meticulously restored and transported to the property, serving as an authentic backdrop for traditional Thai cuisine. The restaurant’s design highlights natural materials, open-air dining spaces, and ambient lantern lighting, creating a romantic and intimate atmosphere.

The design of The Siam Hotel Bangkok is a testament to Bill Bensley’s ability to merge history, luxury, and modern sensibilities into a seamless whole. Every aspect of the hotel, from its architecture to its interiors, reflects a deep appreciation for Thai culture and a commitment to craftsmanship. By incorporating historical elements with contemporary elegance, The Siam offers an unparalleled experience that is both timeless and innovative, making it one of Bangkok’s most iconic boutique hotels.
