Radisson Hotel Group has confirmed four new hotel developments in Romania, that will bring diversity in terms of location, positioning, and target audiences, ranging from urban properties to mountain and coastal resorts. The projects are planned for Bucharest, Brașov, and Mamaia, with openings scheduled between 2027 and 2028.

The further expansion of the group in Romania, reinforces its long-term investment strategy in the country.

In Bucharest, Radisson RED Bucharest Old Town will mark the debut of the Radisson RED brand in Romania. The 104-room property will result from the transformation of a 1940s building that previously housed the Institute of Hydroelectric Studies. Located in the historic center, the hotel will feature co-working areas, an outdoor terrace, and multipurpose event spaces, including a rooftop venue. The opening is set for 2027 and will bring the Group’s portfolio in the capital to four hotels.

Also in Bucharest, Radisson Lagoon Hotel Bucharest is set to open within the Central District Lagoon City. This 323-room property will introduce an urban resort concept, offering a man-made sandy beach of 1,100 sqm, lagoon access, wellness facilities, and extensive food and beverage offerings. The project is positioned to address both business and leisure segments.

“Romania is a dynamic and rapidly growing market for hotel development. The country’s recent accession to the Schengen Area is expected to boost travel, trade, and tourism by eliminating border controls and facilitating easier movement of capital. This development, combined with Romania’s size, rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and vibrant cities, makes it a candidate for focused growth.” – Elie Younes, Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer

In Brașov, Radisson Blu Grand Mountain Resort is expected to open in early 2027. The mountain resort, surrounded by the Carpathians, is being developed with a focus on year-round activities, including hiking, skiing, and mountain biking. The resort will cater to guests seeking nature-oriented experiences, with supporting spa and dining infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Radisson Blu Resort & Residences, Mamaia is planned for Romania’s Black Sea coast, with a projected opening in 2028. The development includes 234 hotel rooms and 102 branded residences. It will feature leisure-focused facilities such as panoramic sea-view rooms, a large spa, a pool bar, and a grand ballroom.

These developments will expand Radisson Hotel Group’s Romanian footprint, which currently includes hotels in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, and Brașov.

Romania has become a growing destination, as the last years many hotel groups prefer this country as an investment choice. There are many groups, including Accor, Kempinski Hotels, Hyatt and Ennismore that show an interest for destinations with increased travel potential and real estate transformation opportunities.
