China Tang, London’s acclaimed Cantonese restaurant, founded by the late Sir David Tang, is set to open its doors in Dubai this weekend, at The Lana Promenade, Dorchester Collection, bringing a new level of sophistication to the city’s dining scene.

Marking its highly anticipated Middle East debut, China Tang’s Dubai outpost builds on the legacy of its celebrated counterpart in London, with the original China Tang housed within London’s esteemed The Dorchester.

Renowned for its refined take on classic Cantonese cuisine and opulent Art Deco interiors inspired by 1930s Shanghai, China Tang Dubai offers a timeless yet modern dining experience in the heart of Downtown Dubai. Set by the waters of Marasi Bay Marina at The Lana Promenade, China Tang Dubai transports guests into a world of elegance and cultural richness.

Thoughtfully designed to evoke a sense of timeless glamour, the interiors are adorned with chinoiserie accents, custom stained glass, intricate wallpaper, and handpicked objets d’art – a reflection of China Tang’s signature aesthetic, reimagined with Dubai’s cosmopolitan spirit in mind.

Mirrored ceilings and ambient lighting subtly reference the traditional Chinese philosophy of yin and yang, creating a harmonious and balanced atmosphere. The elegant, softly illuminated cocktail bar offers a sophisticated pre or post-dinner setting, with an inventive beverage menu crafted to pair beautifully with China Tang’s famed dim sum and refined small plates.

At the culinary helm is Chef Li Zhenjun, who brings over 25 years of experience in Cantonese fine dining. The menu pays homage to traditional recipes featuring premium ingredients, while embracing a contemporary touch, thoughtfully tailored to suit the discerning tastes of Dubai’s cosmopolitan diners.

Guests can expect beloved China Tang classics such as Sir David’s Hot and Sour Soup, Xiao Long Bao, Kung Pao Prawns, Crispy Shredded Beef, Whole Lobster with E-Fu Noodles, and the China Tang Signature Beijing Duck carved tableside. Slow-roasted to perfection in a custom-built duck oven room – a unique feature of China Tang Dubai – the iconic Beijing Duck can be glimpsed in preparation as guests enter the restaurant. While pre-ordering is encouraged, guests can also order it upon arrival, with a wait time of approximately 45 to 60 minutes.

These dishes are joined by exclusive new creations for the Dubai outpost, including standouts such as Foie Gras Cherries, Honey-Glazed Beef Char Siu, “Da Hong Pao” Lamb Cutlets, and Poached Spotted Coral Grouper in Spicy Sichuan Oil, along with an exceptional selection of masterfully created dim sum.

“We are incredibly proud to introduce China Tang to Dubai, a city that continues to push the boundaries of global dining,” said Nathalie Ford, VP Europe and Middle East for China Tang.

“This opening marks an exciting new chapter for the brand, and we are thrilled to bring our signature blend of Cantonese culinary tradition and elevated design to one of the world’s most dynamic gastronomic destinations. We look forward to welcoming both loyal patrons and new diners to experience China Tang Dubai.”

Spanning two floors with a seating capacity of 180 guests, the restaurant offers two elegant private dining rooms ideal for intimate celebrations and business gatherings. Blending world-class service with an immersive dining experience, every detail, from the tea selection to the custom tableware, has been curated to uphold the refined hospitality that has come to define the China Tang name.

China Tang Dubai will be open Monday through Sunday from 12PM until 11PM.
