Zedwell, a hospitality brand under Criterion Capital, has announced the acquisition of Mansell Court, a former office block in London, which will be transformed into the Zedwell Tower Bridge hotel. This marks the brand’s second location in the City of London, following its previous acquisition of One Princes Street near Bank station.
Concept focused on restful sleep
The Zedwell Tower Bridge will feature 200 rooms designed to optimize sleep quality, with the brand’s signature “cocoon” rooms. These windowless spaces are soundproofed, with features such as body-cushioning mattresses, ambient lighting, and purified air to create a restful environment.
“The acquisition of Mansell Court is an exciting addition to our expanding portfolio, and we are thrilled to bring our innovative Zedwell concept to a second site in the City of London.” – Halima Aziz, Head of Hotels at Criterion
Expansion strategy and market position
The acquisition of Zedwell Tower Bridge contributes to the group’s wider expansion strategy, which now includes a pipeline of over 9,000 rooms across the UK. This includes upcoming openings in other key cities such as York, Manchester, and Edinburgh. Zedwell’s commitment to adaptive reuse of buildings is central to its sustainability strategy, with the brand emphasizing energy-efficient design and eco-friendly features.
“We are proud to align closely with the City of London’s ‘Destination City’ strategy and look forward to contributing to its vision for a thriving and sustainable future,” – Halima Aziz, Head of Hotels at Criterion
Zedwell’s approach reflects the growing demand for affordable, minimalist accommodations, as several other capsule hotel brands, such as LyLo and CoDE Concepts, are also planning new openings in London. But apart from this initiative, during the past there have been also other efforts in order to revitalize tourism post-pandemic, like the “Let’s Do London” campaign, launched in May 2021.
