The Ambassador Hotel of Waikiki has joined Tapestry Collection by Hilton, becoming the first property in Hawaii under the brand. Operated by Highgate, the 368-room hotel sits at the gateway to Waikiki and brings Hilton’s loyalty benefits to a property known for its community roots and mid-century heritage.
“We’re thrilled to be the first property in Hawaii to join Tapestry Collection by Hilton, a brand that reflects our dedication to personalized hospitality rooted in a strong sense of place,” said Brandon Kaya, general manager, The Ambassador Hotel of Waikiki. “Our team is passionate about creating meaningful connections to local culture. It’s not just about where you stay—it’s about how you experience Waikiki, and we’re proud to share the spirit of the island with our guests.”
The hotel features views of the Pacific Ocean, Diamond Head and O‘ahu’s mountain ranges. With design nods to its 1960s origins, rooms include two-bedroom suites and Waikiki’s only lofted bunk-bed accommodations. A tropical-inspired palette and lava rock wall in the lobby reflect local natural elements.
Programming at the hotel includes the Waikiki Swim & Social Club, a retro-style pool deck with cabanas and a menu of tropical drinks and local fare. A fitness center and weekly poolside Pilates classes are available, and Beach Candy Waikiki offers gear rentals. The hotel also participates in community programs, such as the King Kalakaua Park clean-up with the City of Honolulu.

The hotel’s restaurant, Favorite Son, serves casual comfort food with island influence. Guests can expect “gourmet sandwiches, deep-dish-style square pizzas and fresh salads” with a daily happy hour from 4 pm to 6 pm that includes craft cocktails, light bites and live entertainment.
The Ambassador is now part of Hilton Honors. Guests can earn points, use flexible payment options, and access member benefits when booking through Hilton channels. According to Hilton, “Hilton Honors members who book directly through preferred Hilton channels have access to instant benefits,” including free standard Wi-Fi and exclusive discounts.
To mark the launch, rates start at $159 with Hawai‘i residents receiving 25% off. Extended stay offers include 20% off for four nights or more under the Stay Longer in Paradise promotion. Guests booking three-night stays can also earn 5,000 Hilton Honors points.
