The Tempus Yurts

Northumberland based hospitality group, The Doxford Group, is delighted to unveil this latest addition to its luxury countryside portfolio; four beautifully appointed Yurts.

Nestled in the heart of the Northumberland countryside, the yurts offer guests a distinctive and tranquil glamping escape from traditional hotel stays- blending rustic charm with modern comfort.

Set within the grounds of The Tempus, the new yurts provide an immersive nature-based experience without compromising on quality. Whether guests are seeking a romantic retreat or a peaceful place to unwind, the yurts promise the perfect balance of comfort, privacy, and natural beauty.

Available for stays of one-night or more and sold on a room-only basis, each yurt features a private decking area that overlooks the surrounding landscape and the Northumberland Coast. Whether seeking a romantic getaway or a peaceful retreat, the yurts provide a serene environment to unwind and reconnect with nature.

Pet lovers are also welcome, as all four yurts are dog friendly. Ideal for walkers and families looking to explore the miles of open countryside, dog-friendly beaches, and charming market towns across the region.

Adding to the appeal for families, The Tempus will unveil a brand-new children’s playpark on 7th June, thoughtfully designed to inspire imagination and adventure in little guests – offering an extra layer of excitement for families staying on the estate.

The launch of the yurts marks the next chapter for The Tempus, which has quickly established itself as one of the North East’s most exciting new destinations. From the design-led interiors and locally inspired menus at The Orangery, to relaxed alfresco drinks at the estate’s Tipi Bar, The Tempus brings together luxury, playfulness, and a strong sense of place.

With the addition of the yurts, the estate can now welcome up to 100 guests across its accommodation offering, which also includes Charlton Hall, a popular wedding and events venue.

Richard Shell, Owner & Director at The Doxford Group, said:

“We’re thrilled to introduce this new chapter at The Tempus with the addition of our luxury yurts.

They offer guests something truly special – an opportunity to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Northumberland countryside without sacrificing comfort. It’s a unique experience that reflects our commitment to providing thoughtful, memorable stays in an extraordinary location.

We are surrounded by some of the UK’s most iconic destinations – from Alnwick Castle and the charming seaside town of Bamburgh, to the region’s award-winning coastline. Our goal is to celebrate and share the charm of Northumberland by creating unforgettable stays that reflect the character and beauty of the area.

As Northumberland continues to grow as a must-visit destination, we want to offer guests a relaxing retreat where they can unwind in luxury while immersing themselves in the landscape. Whether seeking adventure, history, or simply a moment of serenity, our aim is to provide the perfect base for those exploring this iconic region.

We look forward to welcoming visitors to experience this next chapter at the Yurts at The Tempus.”

The Tempus opened as a 15-bedroom hotel, bar and restaurant in May 2023 and has since seen the addition of two new ground floor bedrooms, bringing the total to 48 rooms on the estate, including wedding and events venue, Charlton Hall.

The Yurts at The Tempus are available to book now for stays from 26th June 2025, with prices starting from £135 for room based on two guests sharing.
