Tacomasa, a Tijuana-style taqueria founded by restaurateur Ivan Flores, will open its fourth Southern California location in Brea on Aug. 15, the company said.
Inspired by Flores’s childhood in Tijuana’s taquerias and the beach towns of San Diego, Tacomasa reimagines the classic taqueria experience.
The Brea taqueria will have a menu of signature adobada pork and handmade tortillas, plus new beverages and desserts.
Tacomasa first opened in Long Beach, Calif., in 2021, followed by a Cypress location in 2023, and El Segundo in 2024.
Menu items include tacos, quesadillas, burritos, and tortas. Proteins range from asada, mesquite-grilled pollo asado, and adobada. Sides include house-made elote and crispy fries topped with crema, queso, salsa, and guacamole.
Three new aguas frescas are debuting at the Brea Tacomasa in celebration of the opening: platano (banana), sandia (watermelon), and guayaba con limon (guava lemon). Seasonal aguas frescas will continue to roll out every few months, a spokesperson said.
The Brea location will be the first to debut Tacomasa’s new soft-serve ice cream, with Chocolate Abuelita and vanilla flavors.
“Faith, service, quality, and excellence are the values that have always been important to me, and they are the pillars I founded Tacomasa on,” Flores said in a statement. “I’m very proud of the culture we’ve cultivated over the past four years, and it is such a privilege to continue to share what we do with more members of the community.”
Tacomasa is owned by parent company, Encinal Brands, named for Flores’s grandfather’s ranch in Tijuana, “Rancho El Encinal.”
Flores opened The Buffalo Spot in 2019 and expanded it to more than 30 locations in six years before being sold in 2025. He also opened Blue Burro in 2019, which now has five locations.
The 1,715-square-foot space will seat 52, including a patio and a standing bar with a window that looks into the kitchen.
