The summer months (April through early June) are strategically important for soft drinks manufacturers in India. The hot summer, with temperatures reaching over 40 degrees centigrade in most parts of the country, is the peak period for sales of varied drinks from water to carbonates and nectars. Traditionally, these months have been the most productive for Coca-Cola and PepsiCo. However, this year, the competition from Reliance Consumer’s Campa Cola is upping the ante, trying to convert a duopoly into an oligopoly.
