Travelodge has officially announced the opening of a brand new, 68-room hotel in Harwich, Essex.
The new-build hotel forms part of a mixed-use development at Portside Retail Park, delivered in partnership with The Burney Group.
The hotel will feature Travelodge’s latest premium look and feel, including a contemporary reception and next generation rooms designed for comfort and convenience.
In addition to the standalone hotel, the development also includes three new drive-thrus for Starbucks, KFC and Burger King, two new stores for Howdens and Screw Fix, an Air Rescue Centre and eight Electric Vehicle charging points.
Tony O’Brien, UK development director at Travelodge, said: “We are delighted to open our first hotel in Harwich. Essex is an important growth region for us – this is our 21st hotel in the county, and we have identified a further 18 locations with sufficient demand to open further Travelodges.
“Harwich is a great example of the kind of well-located, mixed-use project that we are seeking, combining excellent local amenities, transport connections and strong local attractions. This new hotel will support the local economy, create jobs and provide great value accommodation for both business and leisure travellers.”
Sam Turner of Carter Jonas, Travelodge’s retained development manager for the South East, outside of the M25, acted as the agent for Travelodge.
Travelodge has a portfolio of 630 hotels and over 47,000 bedrooms across the UK, Ireland and Spain.
