With inauguration scheduled for February 2026, Wine & Books by the Sea, Algarve Resort is PBH Hotel Group’s next opening in the Algarve. Located in the Salgados Nature Reserve, this five-star resort will feature 250 rooms, indoor and outdoor pools, a gym, spa, five distinct dining concepts, a kids club, and event facilities, representing a total investment of €12 million in the brand adaptation project.

The Wine & Books Hotels hospitality brand, created in 2021 by PBH Hotel Group, is set to debut in the Algarve early next year. After establishing itself in Porto and Lisbon, the concept—designed to showcase Portuguese culture through a unique hospitality experience—will present a refreshed vision, reinforcing the destination’s authenticity while elevating its prestige.

The new Wine & Books by the Sea, Algarve Resort follows the rebranding of VidaMar Algarve Resort, which first opened in 2013 and quickly became a landmark in Portugal’s hospitality industry. Now, under a renewed concept and strategic positioning, the property enters a new chapter.

“The Wine & Books Hotels signature aims to convey what Portugal is and what it means to be Portuguese, with literature, gastronomy, and national wines as its foundation. The essence of this project lies in being a messenger of the Portuguese culture, offering a rich, distinctive, and complementary hospitality experience. This new investment in the Algarve affirms that strategy, seeking to elevate the destination to a standard of quality, excellence, exclusivity, and personalization,” explains Carlos Saraiva, Chairman of PBH Hotel Group’s Administration Board.

Located in the heart of the Salgados Nature Reserve, surrounded by the sea and palm groves, the resort will feature 250 rooms across seven categories—including suites, interconnecting rooms, and sea-view options—alongside four outdoor pools, two indoor pools, a gym, spa, kids club, and event spaces.

Gastronomy will take center stage at Wine & Books by the Sea, Algarve Resort, with five distinctive dining concepts catering to all audiences, generations, and preferences. Guests will be able to enjoy Mediterranean, Asian, Italian, and traditional Portuguese cuisines, among other offerings.

Interior architecture and design for the new resort will be led by architect Joana Saraiva, a member of PBH Group’s Board of Directors. Inspired by nature, the project emphasizes harmony with the surrounding landscape, reflecting the tranquility and sense of freedom that define the resort, while encouraging rest and disconnection from the outside world.

“Soft tones inspired by sand dunes, combined with olive greens reminiscent of palm trees, the lagoon, and the golf course, create a serene and welcoming atmosphere where comfort is our priority. The iconic bookcases, a hallmark of Wine & Books Hotels, take center stage, complemented by warm woods and traditionally crafted furniture that reinforce the authenticity and artisanal character of the project,” highlights Joana Saraiva.

With its opening scheduled for February 2026, the adaptation project to the new brand – Wine & Books by the Sea Algarve Resort – represents an investment of €12 million. This will be the third property under the Wine & Books Hotels brand, following the openings in Lisbon (2021) and Porto (2024).
