SOOM

A stylish new restaurant opening November

This November, a new Korean BBQ restaurant will open its doors at 99 St Martin’s Lane. SOOM is the latest concept from the team behind 3KOBROS, a Korean restaurant in Canary Wharf.

Korean food continues to rise in popularity across London, celebrated for its bold flavours, communal dining culture, and balance of tradition and innovation. SOOM builds on this energy with a refined take on Korean BBQ, designed to be both social and serene.

At its core, SOOM will celebrate the communal spirit of Korean BBQ, where guests gather around the grill to cook and share a selection of premium meats and seasonal vegetables. Alongside the BBQ experience, the menu will offer a range of traditional and contemporary Korean dishes, with options designed for all preferences including vegetarian, vegan, and halal.

To finish, guests can look forward to a concise dessert menu that nods to both Korean traditions and modern favourites, complemented by a drinks list featuring soju, Korean-inspired cocktails, teas, and refreshing non-alcoholic choices.

The interior is a major part of the experience. Designed as a sanctuary from the city’s pace, the space blends traditional Korean aesthetics with a contemporary lens. Each premium stone table is fitted with a concealed electric BBQ grill, allowing guests to cook and dine seamlessly in an elegant setting.

At the heart of the main floor is the SOOM feature table; a circular, twelve-seat centrepiece designed to bring people together. Above it, a dramatic ceiling sculpture pays tribute to traditional Hanok architecture, using layered wooden elements and soft, flowing curves to create a sense of movement, warmth and natural light. Adjacent to this, is the ground floor bar with handcrafted elements such as Goryeo celadon vases, a glowing hanji-wrapped bar counter, and a breathtaking mother-of-pearl artwork that depicts a serene Korean landscape.

Toward the rear of the main dining space, a symbolic Jing – a two-meter-wide circular gong traditionally used in Korean rituals – is mounted against a softly lit backdrop. The Jing is struck during moments of joy, gathering, and shared celebration. Nearby, a ‘Circle of Light’ glows subtly, reinforcing the idea of stillness and shared rhythm.

The restaurant’s middle zone features sculpted arches and flowing curves that create intimate dining nooks while maintaining a sense of openness. Finally, SOOM’s private dining room is designed for warmth and discretion. The U-shaped space surrounds guests with ink-wash inspired landscape panels, creating an intimate atmosphere, while the traditional Korean mother-of-pearl folding screen is showcased in the basement dining hall.

A soft launch is planned ahead of the official November opening, offering 25% off food for early visitors.
