Aeroitalia has updated its IT infrastructure with a cloud-based system designed to optimise critical airline operations and crew management functions.

The Italian airline, which is expanding its fleet, has chosen IBS Software’s iFlight Core solution across domestic and international routes in a transition that will complete next year.

Specifically engineered for small to medium-sized airlines, it will allow the carrier to deploy AI-augmented operations management at scale.

Crew planning tools will feature advanced pairing and rostering optimisation capabilities – designed to boost operational stability, enable data-driven decision making, and enhance satisfaction for pilots, cabin crew and ground staff.

iFlight Core is an integrated, expandable platform built on cloud architecture. The system’s API framework enables connectivity with Aeroitalia’s current and future third-party technology infrastructure.

“Our collaboration with IBS Software to upgrade our technology foundation with an integrated, forward-thinking platform that harmonises and streamlines processes represents a crucial milestone in equipping ourselves with premier digital capabilities for managing essential operations,” said Gaetano Intrieri, chief executive of Aeroitalia.

“Consolidating flight operations and crew scheduling into one comprehensive digital platform will enhance our operational efficiency and improve our team’s working experience.”

Ben Simmons, senior vice president and regional head, Europe and Africa, at IBS Software, added: “Our partnership with Aeroitalia demonstrates the tangible benefits that innovative, modern, reliable and unified solutions can provide to dynamic and agile airlines.

“Through iFlight Core, Aeroitalia will be strategically positioned to enhance crew efficiency, reduce operational costs, and increase competitiveness in a rapidly changing industry.”

Aeroitalia will present insights from its iFlight Core implementation at the iFlight Customer Summit in Prague, on November 4-5 2025.
