The Ruby Group, led by CEO and founder Michael Struck, is expanding its presence in Italy with the opening of Ruby Giulia. The hotel is located on Via Agostino Depretis, just steps from Piazza Venezia. The former Ministry of the Interior, measuring approximately 5,300 square meters, has been transformed into a 164-room hotel. Ruby Giulia is designed as an urban retreat in the heart of the city, featuring a 24/7 bar and café, inviting lounge areas that blend seamlessly with the neighborhood, and a rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the ancient city.

Design Story – From Rome with Love

Ruby Giulia’s design is inspired by the glamour and intrigue of 1970s spy thrillers, subtly referencing the building’s past as part of the internal security services. Inside, guests are immersed in a cinematic world of deep emerald green, burnt orange, and shades of red, all combined with terrazzo surfaces, brass details, and soft velvet fabrics. The atmosphere feels both mysterious and inviting, as if walking onto a film set where the next scene could be filmed at any moment.

Influenced by Fellini and Roman filmmakers, whose work continues to shape contemporary Italian culture, the design honors cinematic craftsmanship in every detail. Mirrors on the walls and ceilings of the public areas create ever-changing perspectives, allowing guests to playfully glimpse the space from different angles, a nod to espionage and secret surveillance.

Hints of the building’s history are subtly woven into the storytelling of “From Rome with Love.” A mix of rich colors and vintage furnishings evokes the charm of a bygone era, without losing their modern character. Each space has been carefully designed to exude an intimate and expressive atmosphere, brimming with character.

Rooted in the heart of Rome

Ruby Giulia is located in the vibrant Monti district, one of the city’s most authentic neighborhoods, where cobblestone streets, artisan shops, and lively cafés exude a true Roman atmosphere. Just a stone’s throw from Piazza Venezia, the hotel is within walking distance of highlights such as the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, and Termini Station. Fiumicino Airport is only 35 minutes away. Surrounded by small boutiques, traditional osterias, and creative studios, Ruby Giulia feels like a natural addition to the neighborhood—a place where locals and travelers gather for an espresso, an aperitif, or a late-night drink under the Roman sky.

Rooms – Lean Luxury with an Italian soul

Ruby Giulia offers 164 rooms in four categories: Cosy, Lovely, Wow, and Loft. Ranging in size from 17 to 31 square meters, the rooms are designed for the modern traveler who values quality and simplicity. Signature Ruby features are present, of course: luxurious beds, a rain shower, blackout curtains, and mood lighting that immerses you in the moment of the day. Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or on business, each room offers a peaceful and elegant stay in the center of Rome. Room rates start at €170 per night for a single occupancy, excluding breakfast.

Ruby Group partners with IHG

Ruby Giulia is part of the Ruby Group. Ruby Hotels was acquired by IHG Hotels & Resorts in early 2025, joining IHG’s global portfolio. The partnership with IHG provides Ruby Hotels with access to powerful distribution and technology systems, and of course, one of the largest and most robust hotel loyalty programs in the world: IHG One Rewards.
