ChatGPT Ads are coming in 2026

They won’t look anything like Google Ads👇

Sam Altman just confirmed: ChatGPT will start testing ads.
But not the Google-style “search + sponsored link” model.

Google makes money when search fails —
when you have to click an ad to get an answer.

ChatGPT will make money when it gets it right.

Everything we (roughly) know so far:

1/ Rollout
Closed beta in 2025, scaled launch for free users in 2026

2/ Pricing model
OpenAI will charge for ads based on clicks or actions, not how many times they’re shown

3/ Ad placement
You’ll see ads show up inside the chat, mixed naturally into replies — not in pop-ups or sidebars

4/ Personalization
Ads will be hyper-targeted using chat context, session data, and memory (when enabled)

5/ User control
Users can disable memory to reduce or block ad-based personalization

6/ Targeting logic
System runs semantic intent matching, not basic keyword targeting.

7/ Ad formats
Expect sponsored messages, promoted GPTs, or action buttons built into answers

8/ Attribution
Tracked via session-level tokens or conversion APIs, not cookies

For brands and marketers, this is a massive signal:
2026 may be the year AI stops being just a tool and becomes a media channel.

Ranking high on Google might not matter
if ChatGPT never cites you in the first place
