ENNISMORE BRINGS THE HOXTON TO SCANDINAVIA: Ennismore is bringing its the Hoxton brand to the Nordic region and has signed The Hoxton, Oslo. This also marks Ennismore’s first hotel in Norway. The hotel is a joint venture between AB Invest and Møller Eiendom. The Hoxton, Oslo will showcase the brand’s signature aesthetic to Oslo, designed by AIME Studios, Ennismore’s in-house interior design studio. Slated to open in 2027, the hotel will have an open-planned lobby, 144 rooms, The Apartment and a 170-square-meter event space set around an open pantry kitchen. The hotel will also offer three dining options, all curated by Ennismore’s F&B concept studio, Carte Blanched. Located by Oslo’s government quarter, the hotel will be a block away from the city’s main street and the Karl Johans gate. The Hoxton’s total portfolio includes 16 hotels, with seven more in the pipeline. The brand recently opened properties in Vienna, Charlottenburg, Brussels and Amsterdam.

IHG TO LAUNCH HI EXPRESS IN EGYPT: IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Arkan Palm for Real Estate Investment to expand its footprint in Egypt with the debut of the Holiday Inn Express brand in the country. Scheduled to open in 2027, Holiday Inn Express West Cairo 205 will be located in the West Cairo area, close to popular destinations. The hotel will have F&B and retail outlets, a fitness center and two meeting venues. After delivering Crowne Plaza hotel in West Cairo in early 2022, Arkan Palm for Real Estate Investment is developing the 250-key InterContinental West Cairo 205 (to open in 2028) and the 140-room voco West Cairo 205 Suites (to open in 2026). At present, IHG has seven operational hotels in Egypt and is set to open 19 more within five years.

HILTON ADDS TO CROATIA PORTFOLIO: Hilton has announced the opening of Keight Hotel Opatija, Curio Collection by Hilton, marking the first Curio Collection by Hilton property in Croatia. This also marks the brand’s 40th trading country. Featuring a rooftop terrace overlooking the seaside town of Opatija, the hotel consists of 54 rooms, a spa with an indoor pool, a sundeck with a rooftop lounge and outdoor pool, a restaurant and 100 square meters of meeting space. The hotel is owned by Zagreb City Hotels d.o.o, which operates three more Hilton-branded properties in Croatia (Canopy by Hilton Zagreb City Centre, DoubleTree by Hilton Zagreb and Hilton Garden Inn Zagreb- Radnicka).

CANADA’S PERFORMANCE PEAKS SINCE SEPTEMBER 2023: Canada’s hotel industry reported its highest performance in eight months, as per CoStar’s May data.

  • Occupancy: 69% (+0.2%)
  • ADR: CA$206.39 (+4.5%)
  • RevPAR: CA$142.32 (+4.8%)

The increase in room rates led to a lift in RevPAR in May. Occupancy saw a slight improvement, with the metric shrinking in the lower-tier hotels, while upscale to luxury segment recorded growth. The increases in ADR in all classes kept RevPAR comparisons in positive territory. Group occupancy dropped 5.5%, while transient was up 2.4%. Among the provinces, British Columbia posted the highest occupancy level (74.3%), improving 3.3% above 2023. Among the major markets, Vancouver recorded the highest occupancy (83.8%) level, up 1.2% over May 2023. The lowest occupancy among provinces was reported in Prince Edward Island (54.5%), down 9.5% from 2023. At the market level, the lowest occupancy was reported in Calgary (-1.9% to 67%).
