Led by head of operations Luke Taylor, Native Burger opens today (30 July) on Westgate Street in the Cornwall town serving a menu of nine burgers alongside a selection of fries and sides.

The 20-cover burger shop will showcase exclusively Philip Warren meats in options that include a plain burger; Twisted Fire Starter – a beef patty, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, jalapeño, onion and sriracha mayo; The Workout – a double beef patty with pulled beef brisket, bacon crumb, lettuce, BBQ sauce and mayo; Tequila Slammer – barbacoa pulled beef, beef patty, lettuce, pickled red onion, Cornish slaw, and chipotle and tequila mayo; and a bacon double cheeseburger.

Other menu options include a range of fries that come with toppings such as crispy smoked bacon bits, cheese sauce, grated cheese, and pulled beef as well as buttermilk fried chicken tenders with a range of toppings; mozzarella fries; mac ‘n’ cheese; onion rings; and cheesy bacon rings.

Butchers and graziers since 1800, Phillip Warren ran the Westgate Street site as a butchers for many years but has since moved to a larger site on the town’s outskirts. The site was most recently home to Westgate Street Deli, which announced its closure in May.

Phillip Warren works exclusively with farmers in the South West, handling only grass fed indigenous breeds. Its meat is favoured by some of the UK’s finest chefs and restaurants, including The Ledbury, Ikoyi and Paul Ainsworth at No6.

Through the launch of Native Burger, the team hopes to play a part in reinvigorating the social community of Launceston, drawing on its history as a historic market town and the ‘gateway to Cornwall’.
