ARLINGTON’S CARAVAN MOTEL TO REOPEN AS CARAVAN COURT: Valencia Hotel Group has broken ground on Caravan Court, the eighth property in the Valencia Hotel Collection. Valencia Hotel Group has partnered with Sam Mahrouq and Walid Joulani of Division Hotel Management LLC to build the Caravan Court on the site of the former Caravan Motel and Dollar Car Sales. Slated to open on the historic Division Street in Arlington, Texas in 2026, the hotel will feature 145 rooms and seven suites. The hotel aims to be a modern reinvention of the classic motor court hotel, merging automative design of the 1960s era with modern luxury standards. Paying homage to the mid-century era, the hotel will preserve the iconic Caravan Motor Hotel sign and offer a restaurant, several bars and 5,000 square feet of meeting space. Texas-based Valencia Hotel Collection is a part of Valencia Hotel Group.
MARRIOTT CELEBRATES 9,000TH PROPERTY MILESTONE: Marriott International has achieved its milestone 9,000th property with the opening of The St. Regis Longboat Key Resort. Spread across 18 acres in Longboat Key, Fla., the luxury beachfront hotel features 168 rooms, including 26 oceanfront suites with private terraces, along with multiple dining venues, a pool, spa and meeting spaces. The resort will also offer 69 private branded residences. The resort has been developed by Unicorp National Developments and designed by SB Architects, Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA Miami) and Dutch East Design. The St. Regis Longboat Key Resort joins Marriott International’s global portfolio of 522 luxury properties under seven brands located across 72 countries, with a pipeline of 233 projects in 57 countries.
U.S. PERFORMANCE UPDATE: The U.S. hotel industry posted mixed comparisons YOY, according to CoStar’s data through August 17.

- ADR: $156.35 (+1%)
- RevPAR: $104.54 (+0.9%)
Among the top 25 markets, Houston recorded the highest YOY increases in each of the three key performance metrics: occupancy (+34.3% to 75.3%), ADR (+14.5% to $121.89) and RevPAR (+53.8% to $91.73). The steepest RevPAR declines were seen in San Francisco (-13.8% to $143.39) and Atlanta (-11.3% to $69.43).
CURIO COLLECTION TO OPEN IN BOSTON: Pennyweight Hotel Boston, Curio Collection by Hilton is preparing to open this month, followed by a grand opening in September. The lifestyle hotel is located in Boston’s west End and consists of 112 rooms and suites. The hotel also offers a dining venue, a locally curated art program and communal spaces. Formerly known as Onyx Boston Downtown, the hotel is owned by New England based Boylston Properties.
