Choice Hotels International has strengthened its position in the extended stay segment and has broken ground on three Everhome Suites in San Antonio, Texas; Bowling Green, Ky.; and Wichita, Kan.
All the three properties were developed in partnership with Highside Companies. Highside Companies has a pipeline of 25 Everhome Suites properties.
These groundbreakings, in addition to eight more earlier this year, are part of Choice’s efforts to capitalize on the extended stay demand, which is currently double the supply. Overall, Choice has four Everhome Suites open, 65 in the pipeline and more than 20 under construction. The brand is set to open over 15 properties in the next 12 months.
Choice has around 400 hotels in the pipeline under four extended stay brands, as of the second quarter.
The Everhome Suites San Antonio is Everhome Suites’ sixth property under construction in Texas. This will be Choice’s second Everhome Suites in Kentucky and the first in Kansas.
Located in Charlie Court, Everhome Suites Bowling Green will have 115 rooms. The demand for extended stay options in this market is mostly driven by manufacturing. Bowling Green is home to the headquarters of Fruit of the Loom and its production facility, along with General Motors, Henkel Corp., Georgia-Pacific, Ball Corp. and Toyota facilities. The hotel sits close to the Western Kentucky University, University of Kentucky College of Medicine and several hospitals. The hotel will open in November 2025.
The 115-key Everhome Suites San Antonio will be situated alongside Texas Highway 151 and Highway 410, which serves as San Antonio’s beltway and connects San Antonio International Airport and Lackland Air Force Base. The hotel is also within the five-mile radius of corporate hubs, like JPMorgan Chase Operations Center, Nationwide Insurance, Capital Group and a 1-million-square-foot Wells Fargo Home Mortgage operation and connection center. The hotel is expected to welcome guests from November 2025.
Everhome Suites Wichita will be located around three miles southwest of Wichita State University. Demand in this market comes from a mix of military, manufacturing and healthcare, with Spirit Aerosystems, Textron Aviation and Bombardier Learjet headquarters and manufacturing facilities. The 123-room hotel is slated to open in fall 2025.
“These three new locations speak to our continued leadership in new construction midscale extended stay. We’re opening hotels at a rapid pace and providing franchisees and collaborators like Highside with operational know-how in the category,” said Ron Burgett, senior vice president, extended stay development, Choice Hotels.
Choice’s first-mover advantage helps the company capitalize on the demand for extended stay in key markets and strengthen its presence in the category, Choice said.
Every room in an Everhome Suites has a fully equipped kitchen with full-sized refrigerator and dishwasher, stovetop, microwave, flatware and cookware. The pet-friendly properties have communal outdoor amenity areas, with barbeque grills, firepits and pools in some locations. The hotels also have a 24×7 tech-powered Homebase Market, a fitness center and guest laundry facilities.
