Carrier signs multi-year agreement

Airlink, Southern Africa’s premier independent regional airline, has signed an agreement with airline software provider Accelya to become the launch customer of FLX Select, Accelya’s new NDC programme. 

This move sees the airline becoming one of the first African carriers to embrace NDC.

FLX Select ensures immediate and pre-enabled access to a network of travel sellers allowing airlines by partnering with leading, innovative travel sellers and aggregators.

Sam Gilliland, CEO of Accelya, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Airlink as the first customer of FLX Select. This partnership demonstrates the value in standardising Accelya’s market leading NDC solution so it’s fast and simple for airlines of all sizes to deploy. 

“Successful NDC deployment and adoption is the core foundation for an airline’s Offer & Order retail transformation, and Accelya are now generating more than 350K ONE Order ready offers every second across our platform. 

“Airlink will considerably enhance their Offer & Order readiness, while driving a superior customer experience and better controlling their own retailing.”

Rodger Foster, CEO and manging director of Airlink, added: “Choosing Accelya’s FLX Select was a key strategic decision for us. Airlink operates in a fiercely competitive environment and FLX Select’s fast implementation and offer capabilities coupled with the distribution reach will differentiate Airlink, providing an immediate advantage.

Accelya offers an end-to-end Offer Order Settle modern retail platform for global airlines powered by Amazon Web Services and is the leading global NDC provider, having enabled more than half of all global New Distribution Capability (NDC) transactions in 2023, according to data from T2RL, an independent consultancy in travel technology and distribution strategy.
