HYATT EXPANDS ALL-INCLUSIVE FOOTPRINT IN EUROPE: Hyatt Hotels Corp. has expanded its Inclusive Collection portfolio in Europe with the opening of Dreams Madeira Resort, Spa & Marina in Portugal. The resort marks the brand’s entry into Portugal. The family-friendly, all-inclusive luxury resort is situated adjacent to a quayside and marina and features 366 rooms. The resort includes dining venues and four pools, including a main three-tiered pool overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and meeting and event space. The resort will open a spa in January 2025, which will include an indoor pool, jacuzzi, hammam, sauna, cold water plunge and seven treatment rooms. Hyatt has been expanding its presence in the EAME region, following the openings of me and all Berlin East Side and Grand Hyatt Barcelona.
MARRIOTT TECH ACCELERATOR IN INDIA: Marriott International is establishing a new Marriott Tech Accelerator, the group’s first global capability center (GCC) in Hyderabad, Telangana in southern India. The Tech Accelerator is an expansion of Marriott’s global technology team and will support Marriott’s tech infrastructure, engineering capacity, next-gen solutions, and security capabilities across its enterprise in 141 countries. Telangana has more than 200 GCCs fueling business transformation, Marriott said in a release. The announcement builds off 25 years of Marriott doing business in India, which started in 1999 with the opening of the Goa Marriott Resort & Spa. Earlier this year, Marriott opened its 150th property in India and plans to increase its key count from 29,000 rooms under 17 brands to more than 42,000 rooms in the coming years.
AZUL HOSPITALITY EXPANDS TO PORTLAND, ORE.: Azul Hospitality Group has added the Woodlark Hotel in Portland, Ore. to its management portfolio. Located at the crossroads off SW Alder and 9th Avenue, the hotel integrates two historic buildings: the Woodlark Building, constructed in 1912, and the Cornelius Hotel, built in 1908. The 150-key Woodlark Hotel features three dining concepts and 2,100 square feet of meeting space spread across three event rooms. The hotel will join the Marriott Bonvoy platform this fall. Currently, Azul Hospitality operates 24 brands and 15 restaurant concepts in 28 markets across the U.S.
HOTEL INDIGO BALTIMORE JOINS HISTORIC HOTELS OF AMERICA: Hotel Indigo Baltimore Downtown in Baltimore, Md., has been added into Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Managed by Remington Hospitality, the hotel joins over 300 properties across the U.S. to be honored by the program. Located in the Mount Vernon neighborhood, the hotel originally functioned as a building to serve the youth and young adults of Baltimore and was later converted into a dormitory for the Baltimore International College. The building underwent renovations in 2014 to reopen a year later as Hotel Indigo Baltimore Downtown. In order to be selected for the Historic Hotels of America membership, a hotel needs to be at least 50 years old, designated by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior as a National Historic Landmark or listed or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places; and recognized as having historic significance.
