Six Senses is expanding its presence in Italy and has signed two new properties in the country. The luxury brand has signed hotel management agreements with Gruppo Statuto to open hotels in Milan and Lake Como.

Six Senses Milan and Six Senses Lake Como follows the opening of Six Senses Rome in 2023 in the restored Palazzo Salviati Cesi Mellini and the announcement of the upcoming Six Senses Antognolla in Umbria.

“Six Senses Milan and Six Senses Lake Como both speak to a purpose. The first is intentionally sized and designed for attentive hospitality and holistic wellness within one of Europe’s most dynamic fashion capitals. The second is a serene escape within the most beautiful lakeside gardens just 90 minutes away,” said Neil Jacobs, CEO, Six Senses.

The two signings helps Gruppo Statuto strengthen its global portfolio. The group acquired Six Senses London and Six Senses Ibiza, in addition to Six Senses Rome. The Italian real estate company has built on its collaboration with Six Senses, following the previous partnerships in Ibiza and Rome and the upcoming opening in London.

“The Gruppo Statuto Luxury Hotels portfolio is now a benchmark within the high-end hospitality segment, where Italy leads interests and investments, due to its history, culture and lifestyle,” said Gruppo Statuto Owner Giuseppe Statuto.

Six Senses Milan

Enjoying a prime address at Via Brera 19 in the artistic Brera quarter, Six Senses Milan will feature 68 rooms, of which 15 will be suites and two will have plunge pools. The hotel will also have a specialty restaurant, deli, a spa and a rooftop bar and sky pool.

Six Senses Milan is slated to open in 2025.

The hotel continues the legacy of the first hospitality destination that opened on the shores of Lake Como in 1820 in Cadenabbia di Griante. The former Grand Hotel Cadenabbia on Lake Como’s western shores will be reimagined to open as Six Senses Lake Como.

The number of rooms will be brought down significantly to offer 102 large rooms and suites across six floors, as well as a dedicated spa and wellness space. The outdoor pool and sun deck see the addition of a floating pool on the lake. Other amenities include a specialty restaurant, terrace bar and restaurant with lake views.

The hotel is scheduled to open in 2028.

In 2023, IHG more than doubled its luxury and lifestyle estate in Italy, which saw the return of the InterContinental brand with the launch of InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace. Six Senses Milan and Six Senses Lake Como will join 30 open hotels across Italy and eight more in development, including debuts for the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants and Vignette Collection brands.
