Reveal took place at the Start-up and Innovation Summit
Last week Travolution held the second Start-up and Innovation Summit, where it launched its 2024 Innovation Report.
The event welcomed around 100 executives for a day dedicated to the next generation businesses and talent, along with the next generation of innovation to cultivate outside of the box thinking.
Attendees saw thought leaders speak including Alan French, CEO of Thomas Cook – for his first conference appearance after its eSky Group acquisition, Martin Kleinman, supply director and CCO of lastminute.com, and Dimitris Manikis, president, EMEA of Wyndham Hotels and Resorts.
Throughout the day topics ranged from lessons learnt, payments and regulation, and the threat of cybersecurity to business.
This Travolution event also held a live pitching competition for startups to present in front of a panel of industry leading experts, in the hope of lifting the Travolution Start-up of the Year award, at the Travolution Awards in London on November 28.
The annual Travolution Innovation Report was launched during the event, with attendees among the first to read the latest data and analyses on tech investment in the UK travel sector, in the last 12 months.
Amadeus and Trip.com joined a panel discussion on the report findings, as companies among those that contributed to the report as sponsors, which also include PR and marketing agency FINN Partners.
It revealed that £1.97bn was spent on IT in 2023 – the most ever spent since 2008 – and that £2.2bn is expected to be spent in 2024.
Hotels, Tour Operators and Travel Agents subsectors all saw the highest turnover to date.
