The Unbound Collection, a portfolio of independent and premium hotels by Hyatt Hotels Corp., has added a new location in Asia. Hyatt announced the opening of Keraton at The Plaza, a luxury hotel located in Jakarta’s Plaza Indonesia complex. This marks The Unbound Collection’s arrival in Southeast Asia.
Keraton at The Plaza features 138 rooms and suites, with spaces ranging from 688 square feet (64 square meters) to larger accommodations. The design, done in collaboration with the Indonesian firm Hadiprana, incorporates traditional Javanese elements, including ‘batik kawung’ patterns (one of the oldest batik patterns synonymous with the Javanese royals), which are used in the bed and TV panels in the rooms.
The hotel is located in Jakarta’s entertainment and shopping district and is directly connected to Plaza Indonesia mall. The hotel offers easy access to nearby attractions. Guests also have access to the amenities of the adjacent Grand Hyatt Jakarta, including the Club Olympus fitness center, a salt-chlorinated swimming pool and various dining options.
A highlight of the property is The Club, which is located on the seventh floor. The Club offers guests access to a range of dining options throughout the day, including breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and evening canapés. The space also hosts curated daily experiences, custom tea blends and artwork from Indonesian artists.
A private boardroom and exclusive chef’s table are available for guests hosting events.
“Keraton at The Plaza reflects the beauty of Javanese royal palaces and cultures in a modern, elegant setting,” said Parveen Kumar, general manager of Keraton at The Plaza. “We seek to inspire our guests through tangible and intangible touchpoints, the distinctive splendor of the hotel design, the memorable service our colleagues bestow and the exclusive access to various guest privileges.”
Currently, The Unbound Collection has 19 hotels, which include historic urban properties to contemporary trend-setters and boutique hotels and resorts. Earlier this month, the brand announced plans of opening a luxury hotel in Japan’s ancient capital of Nara, becoming the first The Unbound Collection property in western Japan and the third overall in the country. In November, the brand also renovated and reopened The Bellevue in Philadelphia. The storied hotel, which has been an integral part of the city’s social and architectural past, opened after 120 years and features 184 rooms and 38 suites.
