The Wall Street Journal’s recent analysis indicates that Fogel received a total compensation of $46.7 million in cash and equity awards for 2023

While Fogel ranked as the highest-paid CEO in the travel sector, he placed tenth overall among S&P 500 companies. The top three earners were Hock Tan of Broadcom ($161.8 million), Nikesh Aurora of Palo Alto Networks ($151.4 million), and Stephen Schwarzman of Blackstone ($119.8 million), according to The Wall Street Journal.

The Wall Street Journal assessed each company’s total shareholder return relative to its industry, scoring them on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 indicating performance in the top 20%. Four travel companies received the highest score: Booking Holdings, Delta Air Lines, Host Hotels, and Royal Caribbean.

Here’s a breakdown of CEO compensation for these companies:

  • Glenn Fogel of Booking Holdings: $46.7 million (ranked first in the travel industry)
  • Ed Bastian of Delta: $34.2 million (ranked second)
  • James Risoleo of Host Hotels: $17.7 million (ranked ninth)
  • Jason Liberty of Royal Caribbean: $17.2 million (ranked tenth)
