HILTON’S LA JOLLA TORREY PINES RESORT SELLS: JRK Property Holdings has acquired the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif. from Braemar Hotels & Resorts for $165 million. The 294-room resort is situated on an 11.4-acre site adjacent to the Torrey Pines Golf Course, 15 miles north of downtown San Deigo. The upscale, full-service hotel features rooms with balconies overlooking the golf course and Pacific Ocean, three dinning venues, an outdoor pool, a fitness center, tennis and pickleball courts and 65,200 square feet of meeting space. The hotel has outperformed the competitive market in occupancy, ADR and RevPAR every year since 2016, according to Eastdil Secured, which marketed the property on behalf of Braemar Hotels & Resorts. The new owners plan to invest capital to refurbish the resort.
YOTELPAD ARRIVES IN EUROPE: YOTEL has debuted its YOTELPAD brand in Europe with the opening of YOTELPAD London Stratford. Aiming to challenge the traditional aparthotel concept while offering the YOTEL experience, the new-build hotel consists of rooms in multiple layouts, which can be booked for a night, month or even longer. Located at the end of Stratford High Street, the hotel has 62 rooms, a 24-hour ‘Mission Control’ (the YOTEL equivalent of a traditional hotel reception), a grab-and-go kiosk and laundry facilities. All rooms have sleeping and living areas, with a smart bathroom, kitchenette and work desk. The building has received an Excellent BREEAM rating. YOTEL has 22 hotels globally under three brands — YOTEL, YOTELPAD and YOTELAIR.
DRIFT HOTELS JOINS DESIGN HOTELS: Design Hotels, the portfolio of boutique hotels, has added Drift Hotels, which has hotels in San Jose del Cabo, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara and Nashville. Joining Design Hotels will help Drift to widen its reach and exposure to an international audience. Berlin-based Design Hotels’ member hotels portfolio consists of more than 300 independently owned and operated hotels across 60 countries. Drift’s hotels has a signature, minimalist Baja-inspired design with social spaces. Established in 2021 and was the second brand from TMC Hospitality, which was founded by entrepreneur Philip Bates.
TAPESTRY COLLECTION’S FIRST HOTEL IN RIO DE JANEIRO: Tapestry Collection by Hilton has debuted in Rio de Janeiro with the opening of Yoo2 Rio de Janeiro, Tapestry Collection by Hilton. The opening also marks Hilton’s 20th hotel in Brazil. Owned and managed by ICH/Intercity Hotéis, the hotel is situated in the Botafogo neighborhood and offers views of the Sugar Loaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer. The 135-room hotel was designed by YOO Design Studio and features murals by artist Marcelo Ment. Yoo2 Rio de Janeiro has a rooftop pool terrace with cabanas, a rooftop bar, gym, spa, four meeting rooms and a bike rental service. Currently, Hilton has a portfolio of 225 properties in the Caribbean and Latin America, with a pipeline of more than 110 hotels, which includes over 10 hotels in Brazil and two brand debuts (Homewood Suites by Hilton and Motto by Hilton).
