CAPELLA UNVEILS TAIWAN RESORT: Capella Hotels and Resorts, in partnership with Riant Capital Ltd., has unveiled its first resort and second property in Taiwan. Slated to open in 2028, Capella Kenting will occupy 99,000 square meters of land along the western coastline of south Taiwan’s Hengchun Peninsula in Pingtung. The luxury resort has been designed by Italian architects Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel. The low-density property will have 65 villas, which will feature private pools, hot spring facilities and 180-degree sea views. Capella Kenting will offer wellness facilities, a dining venue as well as common spaces.
SONESTA DEBUTS IN MEXICO: Sonesta International Hotels Corp. has opened Costa Sur Resort, Classico Collection by Sonesta in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The 206-room upper-upscale hotel is situated on a private beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean at Banderas Bay. Located close to popular attractions, the resort sits on top of a protected lagoon. This marks the Sonesta’s first property in Mexico and the second hotel to operate under Classico, the brand which was launched in 2023.
INNVENTURES ADDS TWO HOTELS TO MANAGEMENT PORTFOLIO: InnVentures, a division of Highgate that specializes in the management of premium select-service and extended stay hotels, has added two hotels to its portfolio — Embassy Suites Portland Washington Square, Ore. and Embassy Suites Seattle Bellevue, Wash. The hotels add a combined 596 keys to InnVentures’ portfolio, marking its third and fourth Embassy Suites under management. These two additions bring InnVentures’ total portfolio to 85. The company has been expanding its presence and added 25 hotels across nine states in 2023. This marked its debut in Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Connecticut and Maryland, as well as expansion in Florida, Colorado, Washington and Oregon.
HOTEL 24 SOUTH CELEBRATES 100TH ANNIVERSARY: Hotel 24 South in Staunton, Va. has received proclamations from Historic Hotels of America and the City of Staunton, as the property celebrates its 100th anniversary. Located on South Market Street, the hotel originally opened in 1924. Designed by New York architectural firm of H.L. Stevens & Co., the hotel showcases a Georgian Revival style. Crestline Hotels & Resorts has been managing the property, since it was restored and reopened in 2005. Hotel 24 South offers 124 rooms and 8,500 square feet of meeting and banquet spaces, which can accommodate up to 400 persons.
