Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has launched its Trademark Collection brand in South Korea with the opening of La Vie D’or Hotel and Resort, Trademark Collection by Wyndham. The brand expands Wyndham’s presence in the country to more than 30 hotels.
The new property joins almost 20 Trademark hotels across Asia Pacific.
The 190-room hotel is located in the city of Hwaseong-si, which is a tourism and transportation hub and about a 30-minute drive from Seoul. Spread across 330,000 square meters, the resort has a nine-hole golf course, a fitness center, spa, multiple pools, saunas and fine dining venues. The hotel also offers meeting and event areas and a business center.
Jeongnam-myeon, the area surrounding the property, features landscapes outside the city, making it a popular tourist destination. Other popular attractions, such as the Yungneung and Geolleung Royal Tombs and Yongjusa Temple, are also close by.
“Hotel owners in Asia Pacific continue to see the benefits of the Wyndham Advantage — global brand exposure, innovative technology, a growing loyalty base and more,” said Joon Aun OOI, President, Asia Pacific, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “Introducing Trademark to South Korea helps independent owners maximize their opportunity in the market, while delivering the incredibly unique experiences each Trademark hotel offers guests exploring the country.”
The Trademark Collection’s portfolio consists of upper-midscale and above hotels with unique and independent characteristics. The lifestyle brand has 262 properties in global urban and resort destinations.
Wyndham has been growing its presence in South Korea, which is part of the lodging company’s strategy to tap into the increasing demand for business and leisure travel in the country.
The government has also been focusing on furthering tourism as a key driver for the country’s economic growth and to enhance national welfare. Between January to March this year, around 3.4 million international tourists visited the country, which was the highest quarterly volume since the pandemic, according to the country’s tourism ministry. March alone saw 1.5 million inbound visitors, the highest monthly figure after the pandemic and recovering 97% of pre-pandemic levels. Travelers from the U.S. jumped 20%, outperforming pandemic figures.
In 2023, South Korea welcomed roughly 11 million visitors, with the travel and tourism sector anticipated to reach $13.66 billion by the end of this year, Wyndham said.
