Peckham Levels Ltd appointed administrators mid this month and is understood to have ceased managing the site last week.

In a statement on the matter, the building’s owner Southwark Council said that it had appointed The Trampery to ‘ensure business as usual and protect jobs’.

“We had to act quickly at very short notice to ensure continuity for tenants and visitors alike, which was our first priority. The Trampery’s dynamism and strong track record, especially towards diversity and inclusion, makes them a great fit for Peckham Levels,” says councillor John Batteson.

“Peckham Levels is a much-loved destination for culture, creativity and affordable workspace. We want to make sure it continues to serve local people’s needs in the very best way possible, while being commercially successful in the long term. We will be exploring this in more detail over the coming months, working closely with The Trampery, businesses, and the local community.”

Launched in 2017 within a former multi-storey car park, Peckham Levels comprises a 200-person workspace, a bar and five kitchens. Current tenants include Little Baobab; burger concept Fatboys on Tour; and Korean fusion concept Masta’s.

The Trampery manages six other affordable workspace buildings in other London locations, with ‘particular experience turning around sites that have faced challenging circumstances’.

As The Trampery takes on the day-to-day running of Peckham Levels, the council says it is working on a long-term plan for the building to ensure it meets the community’s needs.
