Like the original, the 120-cover site will serve a modern Indian restaurant that is inspired by Delhi.

Varendra Lamba and his wife Rajinder, their son Sherry and their daughter-in-law Preen relocated from Delhi to Manchester in 2020 to launch a large restaurant within Manchester’s Corn Exchange.

Dishes at the original site include Mutton keema taco; old Delhi’s lamb nihari; and Not My Burger, an open naan bread burger with curried mayonnaise, salad and hard-boiled eggs.

“Myself and my family are from Delhi, the food capital of India and we want to transport our diners to this exciting, bustling and experiential city, delivering the most wonderful experience of modern Indian dining that they haven’t seen before,” Preen says. “Meanwhile, we’ll also be sharing the knowledge and expertise that goes into creating authentic Indian food.”

Varendra is head of expansion, interiors and development, Rajinder is head of the kitchen with all recipes are created by her; Sherry is  chef patron and head of operations and Preen oversees marketing.

Preen added: “When we opened in Manchester almost five years ago, we couldn’t have imagined how well Delhi House Cafe would be received. We really believe that there is a gap in the market for Indian food in Liverpool and the dishes that we’ll offer at Delhi House Cafe. Our goal is to transport our guests so that they feel as though they’re dining in a restaurant in Delhi. We want to change the common preconception that Indian food is for hangovers, that it’s curries from a takeaway courier, or that it’s just unhealthy.”
