Silversea will soon open a hotel in the southernmost city on Earth to enhance its Antarctica expedition experience. The luxury cruise line announced it is developing a hotel in Puerto Williams, Chile, to create an experience for guests to explore the White Continent.
The new-build, 150-key hotel will be built in collaboration with a consortium of Chilean investors and is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2025.
Overlooking the Beagle Channel and surrounded by forests, the hotel will offer views of the water and the Patagonian mountains. The hotel will feature a large restaurant ideal for group gatherings, bar and lounge, fitness center and a gift shop showcasing art and handicrafts by local artisans. Drawing inspiration from local art, materials and architecture, the hotel’s design will blend into the environment.
Committed to foster long-term partnerships with the local communities, Silversea will work along with stakeholders to create opportunities for economic growth, while maintaining the cultural heritage and minimizing environmental impact in the area.
The hotel not only sets Silversea apart from other polar expeditions, it also reiterates the cruise line’s strategy to diversify and innovate experiential luxury travel, Silversea said in a release.
“As we continue to push the boundaries on the ultimate vacation experience for our guests, this new hotel allows us to offer an Antarctic expedition that further enhances our diverse portfolio of world-class vacations across our brands,” said Jason Liberty, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean Group. “Partnering with our experienced teams in Chile, we are providing guests with a unique opportunity to explore one of the world’s most breathtaking and remote destinations that advances our promise to deliver a lifetime of vacations.”
Silversea, one of the five cruise brands owned by the Royal Caribbean Group, is the only cruise line that homeports from Puerto Williams during the Antarctica season. Guests who will be joining Silersea’s Antarctica Bridge fly-cruise program, direct route to Antarctica, will be able to fly directly to Puerto Williams from Santiago, Chile’s capital city.
Situated in the sub-Antarctic zone of the Patagonia region of Chile at the southern tip of South America, Puerto Williams is among the preferred gateways for travelers exploring Antarctica.
Silversea offers luxury expedition ships with a range of six to 20-day Antarctic voyages. There’s also a cruise program for guests with limited time, with the option to skip the Drake Passage and fly directly to Antarctica.
