FAIRMONT BREAKERS LONG BEACH OPENS: Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, part of Accor, has partnered with Long Beach, Calif.-based Pacific6, to announce the opening of Fairmont Breakers Long Beach. Located in downtown Long Beach, the hotel has opened following a multi-million-dollar transformation. Originally built in 1926, the property’s restoration was led by design teams HBA and RVD Associates. The building’s historic features have been restored, which includes the untouched plaster molding, original mailbox in the lobby and the ornate exteriors. The hotel features 185 rooms (including 22 suites), a luxury spa, pool terrace, rooftop bar with views from downtown Los Angeles to Catalina Island, lobby bar, two signature restaurants (including the return of the fine dining restaurant Sky Room), a fitness center and nearly 10,000 square feet of event space. Fairmont Breakers marks Fairmont’s 89th property globally and is the first of a pipeline comprising over 30 hotels under development. The brand will be opening properties in in Prague, Udaipur, Tokyo, Hanoi, New Orleans, Spain and the U.K. in 2025.
VOCO ARRIVES IN ATLANTA: voco hotels, the premium brand under IHG Hotels & Resorts, has arrived in Atlanta with the opening of voco The Darwin Hotel. The former 111-room Darwin Hotel in the city’s Old Fourth Ward district has been converted into the voco hotel. Contemporary design aesthetics have been blended with the tradition and culture of the Old Fourth Ward across the hotel. With a focus on sustainability, the hotel offers plant-based amenities and the bedding’s filling has been made from recycled materials, while complimentary filtered water is available in reusable bottles. The four-story hotel includes a central courtyard, an onsite dog park, outdoor cocktail bar, a restaurant, fitness center and a business center. Owned by Global SCR, the hotel is operated by Atlanta-based HVMG. Launched in 2018, voco hotels is aiming to achieve more than 200 open hotels globally by 2028.
SCANDIC ADDS TWO HOTELS IN SWEDEN: Scandic is expanding in Sweden and is adding two hotels to its portfolio. The hotel company has signed two long-term lease agreements with property owner JV Nordväst Fastighet AB to take over two hotels in Helsingborg and Jönköping. Adding a combined 199 rooms to Scandic’s portfolio, the two hotels will undergo renovation and integrated into Scandic Go, Scandic’s new brand, before reopening in the first half of 2026. Located close to Denmark, Scandic Go, Helsingborg will offer 96 rooms and certified by the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, the official environmental certification in the Nordic countries, after it opens. Situated in Jönköping, an economic center that attracts tourists and hosts meetings and events, Scandic Go, Jönköping will have 103 rooms and will also be certified by the Nordic Swan Ecolabel once it opens.
INTERGLOBE EXPANDS EUROPEAN FOOTPRINT: InterGlobe has expanded its footprint in Europe and added a hotel in Gstaad, Switzerland. The addition of The Mansard, Gstaad to InterGlobe’s portfolio also marks the brand’s entry into Switzerland. The hotel joins existing Miiro hotels in Paris and Barcelona, along with new properties slated to open in London and Vienna in 2025. Launched this June, Miiro is a lifestyle hotel brand with individually-designed hotels across cities in Europe. Overlooking Gstaad’s promenade, The Mansard consists of 29 rooms as well as a rooftop bar, restaurant, sauna, Miiro’s signature Refresh Room and ski storage facilities. The hotel is owned by Miiro’s parent company, InterGlobe Enterprises, the Indian conglomerate involved in aviation, hospitality and other businesses. The hotel has been operating as an independent hotel since May and will reopen under Miiro later this month following the rollout of a brand training program and enhancements to the property.
