USA, Indianapolis, Indiana.
December 30, 2024

Ennismore, the fastest-growing lifestyle and leisure hospitality company, and TWG, a national developer of multifamily housing and mixed-use projects, are thrilled to announce the signing of 21c Museum Hotel Indianapolis. Dedicated to making art and culture accessible to all, the multi-venue contemporary art museum will showcase globally renowned and regionally relevant artists in site-specific installations and rotating curated exhibitions throughout the year.

At 21c Museum Hotel Indianapolis, art will be integrated into every aspect of the guest experience. From the moment guests arrive, they can expect to find installations designed specifically for the museum hotel’s unique spaces, along with curated group and solo exhibitions that reflect the global nature of art today- accessible 24/7, 365 days a year. The rooms at 21c Indianapolis are no exception, with each of the 156 guest rooms, including 20 suites, filled with original artwork and 21c’s dedicated Art Channel on the television, allowing guests to enjoy the museum hotel’s curated art program from the comfort of their rooms.

The museum hotel’s three food and beverage destinations further provide immersive spaces that spark conversation and create a connection with a signature, locally-inspired, chef-driven restaurant, a lobby lounge and bar, and a rooftop bar. 21c Indianapolis’ 16,000 sqft of gallery space offers an unforgettable setting to celebrate special events. Guests looking to focus on well-being can also make use of the fitness center to unwind and recharge.

Located on North Alabama Street, the museum hotel is at the heart of the world-renowned Indianapolis Cultural Trail, a Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick, connecting the established Mass Ave Cultural Arts District to the fast-growing Market East District. True to 21c’s longstanding commitment to preservation, the project will breathe new life into the historic Old City Hall building, set to house the museum hotel’s gallery spaces and restaurant and bar. An arcade will connect it to the newly constructed hotel tower. Part of a mixed-use development, the site will also be home to 8,000 sqft of retail space set to revitalize this corner of downtown Indianapolis. Just a 20-minute drive to Indianapolis International Airport, 21c Indianapolis is easily accessible with public transit options close by.

Sarah Robbins, Chief Operating Officer for 21c Museum Hotels, said, “We are proud to bring a new kind of travel experience to Indianapolis with the 21c brand. Committed to expanding access to contemporary art and positively impacting their communities, 21c’s site-specific art installations and rotating curated contemporary art exhibitions create a dynamic and always-evolving hospitality experience. We look forward to inspiring curiosity and encouraging discovery in our new home in Indianapolis in 2028.”

Tony Knoble, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of TWG, said, “We could not be more thrilled to bring a 21c Museum Hotel to Indianapolis. TWG was founded in Indianapolis, and this is our home; this project represents the culmination of years of effort and partnership between TWG and the City. 21c Museum Hotel Indianapolis is a rare opportunity to breathe new life into the 120-year-old majestic Old City Hall, bolster the city’s hospitality stock, and create an art-focused cultural attraction at the centre of Mass Ave. We are excited to see this project through to completion and become a destination for all.”

21c Museum Hotel Indianapolis—which will be managed by Ennismore—is developed in partnership with TWG, a real estate development company specializing in commercial, market-rate, affordable, and senior housing with expertise in development, construction, and management. Headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, TWG was formed in 2007 and has since expanded into over 25 states.

Founded with the belief that art can be a part of daily life and a spark to ignite new energy and ideas, 21c Museum Hotels is a transformative 21st-century hospitality experience, combining a multi-venue contemporary art museum, genuine hospitality, and chef-driven restaurants. Locally rooted yet globally engaged, 21c currently operates eight museum hotels across the United States in Louisville, Cincinnati, Bentonville, Durham, Lexington, Kansas City, Chicago and St. Louis.
