IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) is further strengthening its presence in Germany with the signing of Holiday Inn Ratingen, set to open in the second half of 2025. In collaboration with multi-hotel operator tristar GmbH, the property will undergo a full renovation before welcoming guests.

Key features of the new Holiday Inn Ratingen

The hotel will feature 134 rooms, while it will boast essential amenities tailored to both business and leisure travelers. These will include a restaurant, a bar, and five meeting rooms designed for corporate events and social gatherings. Additionally, the hotel will offer the popular ‘Kids Stay & Eat Free’ program, catering to families.

The design of the hotel will include the Open Lobby concept, a flexible space allowing guests to work, relax, or socialize in a versatile environment. This design-driven space aims to provide a comfortable and adaptable area for different types of guests.

“We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with tristar GmbH – one of our longest-standing and valued partners in Northern Europe. The signing of Holiday Inn Ratingen marks our 33rd hotel together and is testament to our shared vision of sustainable growth across Germany, Austria and Switzerland for both domestic and international travellers.
The Holiday Inn family brand presents enormous global growth potential as we continue to see the expansion of the middle class and a renewed excitement to travel once again. With all IHG brands, including Holiday Inn, being conversion-ready, we can help our partners capitalise on this growing class, by enabling them to quickly benefit from IHG’s powerful technology and revenue systems, operational expertise and loyalty offer.” – Willemijn Geels, Vice President, Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts

Located in Ratingen, a town near Düsseldorf, the hotel is well-positioned for both business and leisure guests. Ratingen is close to various business districts, while Düsseldorf, a well-known cultural and shopping hub, is only a short drive away. Visitors can easily explore attractions such as the Königsallee shopping street, Düsseldorf Altstadt (Old Town), and the Kunstpalast art museum.

“We are excited to partner once again with IHG Hotels & Resorts, to bring one of the most recognised and much-loved hotel brands to a new location in Germany. My special thanks go to our landlord, LEG, and their trust in our company. We look forward to a promising future together and to offering our guests a unique hotel experience very soon.” – Jochen Weishaupt, Managing Director at tristar GmbH

“Thanks to IHG’s exponential growth in Germany, it is well on its way to becoming a leading player in the midscale and upper midscale segments in the country. I would especially like to thank our new business partner tristar GmbH and look forward to a trusting and successful collaboration. I am confident that Holiday Inn Ratingen will be well received by both domestic and international travellers looking for comfortable, convenient accommodation in the wider Dusseldorf area.” – Kevin Hain, Head of Commercial Property Management, LEG Immobilien SE

Continued expansion in Germany

The opening of Holiday Inn Ratingen is part of IHG’s ongoing expansion in Germany, where it currently operates 220 hotels and has more than 140 Holiday Inn-branded properties. The group is also growing its portfolio with new brands, including Garner Hotels, IHG’s midscale conversion brand, and the forthcoming Candlewood Suites.
