Sustainability
In April 2024, leading European travel and tourism associations gathered in Rhodes to sign a landmark Joint Declaration on sustainability. This commitment outlines a clear roadmap for advancing decarbonisation, promoting collaboration and strengthening engagement with EU policymakers to drive meaningful change.
The Rhodes Forum underscores the industry’s determination to meet EU climate goals while securing a competitive and resilient future for all businesses – especially the microenterprises that form the backbone of hospitality.
Key sustainability asks to EU institutions (2024-2029) include:
- Simplified regulatory frameworks to ease administrative burdens
- Increased EU support and funding for green investments
- Integration of travel and tourism energy needs into EU energy policies
- Promotion of intermodal transport solutions for seamless connectivity
With these actions, the industry can transition toward a greener and more innovative future while maintaining global competitiveness.
