The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid, has officially joined The Luxury Collection portfolio following a meticulous two-year restoration that blends historical with contemporary elemeents. Formerly known as The Westin Palace, Madrid, this hotel has been transformed while maintaining its architectural heritage.
The hotel’s restoration has revived its original 1912 grandeur, with the 8,000-square-meter façade restored by Ruiz Larrea Arquitectura. The project also included the careful restoration of the hotel’s stained-glass dome, originally crafted by Eduardo Ferrés i Puig, consisting of 1,875 glass panels that were disassembled and restored to their original colors. Beneath the dome, the glass palm-tree chandelier has been reinstated in the hotel lobby.
“The Palace has played a significant role in Madrid’s cultural landscape for over a hundred years,” “Becoming part of The Luxury Collection portfolio has enabled the team to fully embrace the eclectic history of the venue, a history preserved during the building’s painstaking restoration. The Palace’s unique charm will be appreciated by Madrilenos and travelers alike, and we look forward to writing this new chapter.” – Helen Leighton, Vice President, Luxury Brands, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Marriott International.
The hotel features 470 rooms and suites. Concerning the amenities, at the heart of The Palace Madrid is La Cúpula, an all-day dining venue set beneath the glass dome. Combining historic character with modern touches, the restaurant offers a menu inspired by the hotel’s famous past guests, such as Pablo Picasso’s Waldorf Salad and Julio Camba’s steak tartare.
Another venue is the newly revamped 27 Club, formerly the Museo Bar. Paying homage to the Generation of 27, a celebrated literary movement in Spain, this cocktail bar intertwines history, literature, and mixology. Featuring an extensive collection of over 70 illustrations, guest books, and handcrafted cocktails inspired by Pre-Prohibition and Prohibition-era classics, the venue delivers a distinctive atmosphere for both guests and locals.
As part of The Luxury Collection, The Palace Madrid joins Marriott Bonvoy®, granting guests access to a global travel program with exclusive benefits. Situated in Barrio de las Letras, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the hotel offers unparalleled proximity to cultural landmarks such as the Prado Museum, Retiro Park, and Plaza Mayor.
