Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced the appointment of ShaoWei Ong as Chief People & Culture Officer, effective 17 March 2025. Reporting directly to Group Chief Executive Laurent Kleitman, she will join both the Executive Committee and the Group Leadership Team, reinforcing the company’s focus on people-centric operations.
Leadership experience
With more than 22 years of experience in human resources leadership, ShaoWei Ong has worked across various industries, including hospitality, banking, fintech, music, and engineering. Her expertise spans HR transformation, organizational design, culture development, leadership training, and digital innovation—aligning with Mandarin Oriental’s strategy of enhancing both employee and guest experiences.

Prior to joining Mandarin Oriental, she was Group Human Resources Director at Jardine Schindler and Livi Bank. Her career also includes leadership roles at Sony Music Group across Asia and the Middle East, the Starwood Academy Asia Pacific in Shanghai, Secoo Group, Wyndham Hotel Group in Asia, and United Overseas Bank (Malaysia).

ShaoWei holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Waterloo and will be based at the Group’s headquarters in Hong Kong.
