Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has officially opened its newest property, Fairmont Golden Prague, in the heart of the city’s UNESCO World Heritage Centre. This highly anticipated opening follows an extensive renovation of a landmark brutalist building on the banks of the Vltava River, blending the city’s historic charm with modern luxury.

A renovation that honors Prague’s architectural heritage

The renovation of Fairmont Golden Prague, spearheaded by chief architect Marek Tichý, successfully preserves the building’s original brutalist design, created by Czech architect Karel Filsak in 1974. The project incorporates Czech artistic traditions, such as blown glass chandeliers and ornate ash wood posts, while introducing a contemporary hospitality experience.

The hotel’s 320 rooms, suites, and serviced residences showcase a blend of modernist aesthetics with warm, natural tones of dark wood and light elements. Traditional Czech glass artistry is thoughtfully integrated into the interiors, enhancing the overall ambiance and offering a culturally rich experience.

Diverse dining options and exclusive experiences

Fairmont Golden Prague offers six dining venues, each designed to cater to different tastes and experiences. The rooftop restaurant, Zlata Praha, presents seasonally driven fine dining with panoramic views of the city, while Golden Eye brings modern Asian cuisine to a sleek and cosmopolitan setting. For a more casual setting, Greenhouse provides an all-day dining experience.

Coocoo’s Nest, inspired by the Academy Award-winning film One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, serves as a social hub. The hotel’s ground-floor art gallery and mix of 1970s and contemporary artwork create an ideal setting for guests to relax and enjoy their surroundings.

“The opening of Fairmont Golden Prague is a significant milestone for Fairmont as we continue to grow the brand’s presence in Europe. Prague is a city with an incredible story to tell, and we are honored to play a part in preserving its great heritage. Blending Fairmont’s celebratory spirit with the property’s architectural grandeur will bring a captivating new luxury hotel experience to the Czech capital, and its innovative restaurant concepts – an exciting new offering to the city’s vibrant culinary scene,” – Omer Acar, Chief Executive Officer, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.

An extensive art collection and wellness retreat

Fairmont Golden Prague is also home to an art collection, showcasing works from the 1960s and 1970s, alongside contemporary pieces. Notable works include René Roubíček’s chandeliers and Miroslav Hejný’s sculpted wooden columns, which enhance the cultural atmosphere of the property.

The hotel’s 1,400-square-meter Fairmont Spa & Wellness center offers a luxurious blend of nature and modern technology. It features five serene treatment suites, a tranquil garden, three saunas, a steam bath, and a fitness studio. For those seeking relaxation and rejuvenation, the spa provides personalized treatments designed to refresh and revitalize.

Event spaces and amenities

Fairmont Golden Prague offers a range of versatile event spaces, including a 600-square-meter column-free ballroom and three rooftop boardrooms. Each space is equipped with audiovisual technology, private terraces, and customized catering options, making the hotel an ideal venue for conferences, weddings, and special events.

Additionally, the hotel’s Fairmont Gold experience offers a “hotel within a hotel” option, with private check-ins, access to a luxurious lounge, and premium amenities.

Fairmont’s growing European portfolio

With the opening of Fairmont Golden Prague, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts continues to expand its presence in Europe, adding another property to its portfolio. The hotel’s blend of historical significance, modern luxury, and cultural experiences makes it a prime destination for both business and leisure travelers.
