Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has expanded its European portfolio with the opening of Fairmont Golden Prague. Set on the Vltava River in the city’s Old Town near Pařížská Boulevard, the property occupies a 1970s brutalist building originally designed by Czech architect Karel Filsak.

The renovation was led by chief architect Marek Tichý, who preserved original features such as ash wood posts, glass chandeliers and gilded lighting. Czech design elements were restored and blended with new materials and layouts across public areas and guest rooms.

“The opening of Fairmont Golden Prague is a significant milestone as we continue to grow our presence in Europe,” said Omer Acar, chief executive officer of the brand.

“Prague is a city with an incredible story to tell and we are honored to play a part in preserving its great heritage. Blending our celebratory spirit with the building’s architectural grandeur will bring a captivating new luxury hotel experience to the Czech capital and its innovative restaurant concepts—an exciting new offering to the city’s vibrant culinary scene.”

The hotel features 320 rooms, suites and serviced residences. Interiors incorporate original architectural motifs and Czech glasswork in lighting and partitions. Guest rooms are designed in a neutral palette and emphasize separation between living and sleeping spaces.

Six dining venues are available. Zlata Praha is a rooftop restaurant offering city views and seasonal menus. Golden Eye serves modern Asian cuisine with design cues from the 1970s. The lobby houses Coocoo’s Nest, a café-bar linked to an art gallery. Greenhouse, on the ground floor, serves Czech pilsner and grilled dishes cooked over a Josper grill.

An in-house art collection showcases restored works by Czech artists René Roubíček, Miroslav Hejný and Čestmír Kafka. Pieces from the 1960s and 1970s appear alongside contemporary works in both rooms and public spaces.

The 15,000-square-foot wellness area includes five treatment rooms, three saunas, a steam bath and an L-shaped pool that extends from indoors to outside. A fitness center and private garden complete the facility.

A dedicated Fairmont Gold section offers private check-in, a lounge and upgraded amenities. The hotel also includes a 6,500-square-foot ballroom, flexible event spaces and rooftop boardrooms with terraces.

The Prague opening joins a European lineup that includes Le Montreux Palace in Switzerland, The Savoy in London and La Hacienda Costa Del Sol in Spain. The brand is part of Accor.
