Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes has announced the addition of Castello di Procopio to its portfolio, marking the brand’s first property in Umbria, Italy. This 12th-century estate offers a combination of historical architecture and modern amenities, providing guests with an experience that will make them want to discover the region’s culture and heritage.
When restoration meets the comfort
The property, originally commissioned by Holy Roman Emperor Frederico Barbarossa, has undergone a restoration. This happened in order to preserve its historical elements, the medieval features, including ancient stonework and vaulted ceilings, while incorporating modern luxuries. The property is set on 11 acres of olive groves, vineyards, and meadows, while it also offers views of the surrounding landscape, including Assisi.

Inside, the estate boasts eight en-suite bedrooms that accommodate up to 16 guests, while the rooms are designed with high-quality materials, contemporaryfurnishings and amenities, ensuring a comfortable stay while maintaining the property’s historic charm. Moreover, there are shared spaces, such as the reception hall, library, and bar lounge.
Castello di Procopio offers a variety of services and activities for guests, including a heated outdoor pool, a spa suite, and access to local cultural and culinary experiences. The property’s private chef prepares meals using local ingredients, focusing on traditional Umbrian dishes, while guests can also arrange wine tastings or private visits to nearby landmarks.
