Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes has announced the addition of Castello di Procopio to its portfolio, marking the brand’s first property in Umbria, Italy. This 12th-century estate offers a combination of historical architecture and modern amenities, providing guests with an experience that will make them want to discover the region’s culture and heritage.

When restoration meets the comfort

The property, originally commissioned by Holy Roman Emperor Frederico Barbarossa, has undergone a restoration. This happened in order to preserve its historical elements, the medieval features, including ancient stonework and vaulted ceilings, while incorporating modern luxuries. The property is set on 11 acres of olive groves, vineyards, and meadows, while it also offers views of the surrounding landscape, including Assisi.

“Castello di Procopio represents everything we seek in a Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Home, authentic heritage, sophisticated design, and exceptional service,” “Every element of the experience has been meticulously considered to reflect the brand’s commitment to excellence and elevate the guest journey beyond expectations.” – Ersev Demiroz, General Manager, Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes.

Guest experience

Inside, the estate boasts eight en-suite bedrooms that accommodate up to 16 guests, while the rooms are designed with high-quality materials, contemporaryfurnishings and amenities, ensuring a comfortable stay while maintaining the property’s historic charm. Moreover, there are shared spaces, such as the reception hall, library, and bar lounge.

Castello di Procopio offers a variety of services and activities for guests, including a heated outdoor pool, a spa suite, and access to local cultural and culinary experiences. The property’s private chef prepares meals using local ingredients, focusing on traditional Umbrian dishes, while guests can also arrange wine tastings or private visits to nearby landmarks.

Focus on heritage and service

The addition of Castello di Procopio to the Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes portfolio reflects the brand’s emphasis on combining heritage with modern luxury.

Apart form this opening, Mandarin Oriental had many recent openings in  famous locations such as, Paris, Cannes,  Prague, Madrid, Barcelona, Messenia – Costa Navarino, Munich, Zurich, London (Mandarin Oriental Mayfair and Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park), Geneva.

The choice of these  famous tourist destination, as well as the rapid expansion of the group on these locations, keeping in mind that this  happened the last year, shows  the dynamism of the group and the interest for the European continent.

Particularly  interesting is the expansion in Italy with the already two openings in Milan  and Lago di Como and the recent Castello di Procopio, something that shows the increasing interest for the destinations of South Europe.
