NEXT Generation Invest AG and Ostsee-Sparkasse Rostock are advancing the Kesselborn district project in Rostock with the announcement that Accor Group’s design hotel brand, Tribe, will occupy the Skydeck high-rise building.

The hotel operator, Tristar GmbH, will manage the property under a long-term lease, marking an important step in the creation of this mixed-use urban quarter near Rostock Central Station, while the construction began in the first quarter of 2025.

Skydeck high-rise: Hotel and mixed-use facilities

The Skydeck, the tallest of five planned buildings in the district at 80 meters and 17 stories, will host a four-star hotel with 157 guest rooms, alongside wellness and fitness facilities. A rooftop Skybar on the 15th floor will offer panoramic views stretching to the Baltic Sea, while the 14th floor will feature conference spaces. The building will also include office spaces and dining options, supporting the district’s aim of combining hospitality, work, and residential functions.

The expansion of Tribe in Germany is not something new as in the past there has open also TRIBE Düsseldorf and TRIBE Baden-Baden.

“The new quarter in Rostock is a significant development for the entire region, and the location in the Skydeck in particular makes it the ideal location for our design brand TRIBE. With our signature TRIBE style and our offerings, from a social hub to a trendy sky bar, we will make a significant contribution to the attractiveness of the quarter and look forward to welcoming both guests and locals to this striking setting in the future.” – Thiemo Willms, Vice President Development DACH at Accor

“We are delighted that the Accor Group has chosen our Kesselborn district development in Rostock as the new location for its TRIBE design hotel. This gives us a strong partner with great appeal for the district, who will be a real asset for the future users and their guests. We thank you for the confidential and constructive discussions. The agreement reached is a strong signal and shows us that our shared vision for the new district in Rostock is generating great interest,” – Hannes Ressel, CEO of NEXT Generation Invest AG.

Founded in 2017 in Australia, the Tribe brand emphasizes distinctive design, a multifunctional social hub, and contemporary culinary offerings at accessible price points

Urban development with mixed-use and community focus

The Kesselborn Quarter spans approximately three hectares at Albrecht-Kossel-Platz, situated between Rostock’s main train station and the Stadthalle. The development includes five architecturally coordinated buildings, projected for completion by 2028, designed to integrate diverse functions such as residential, office, retail, and hospitality.

Supporting infrastructure includes a neighborhood-owned parking garage with 649 spaces and electric vehicle charging stations. Planned community amenities encompass a daycare center, educational programs, local shopping, leisure and sports facilities, and extensive green spaces.
